“You drive,” I said to Barney. “You’re the guest.” “Wait just one minute,” Barney said, looking back at Denise who was spread eagle on her bamboo cross. “I think it might be more fitting for her to bring up the rear and get some much needed exercise. What say you, team?” Barney shouted to his six anxious ponies. Six sets of harnesses and bridles clinked and rattled in the affirmative, so Barney and I got down from the coach driver’s seat and went to release Denise from the bamboo cross and hitch her to the back of the coach. She wasn’t pleased at this sudden turn of events and struggled a bit while we made certain that she would tag along behind the coach, but not wander.
