Titus
Although the sunset is beautiful it pales in comparison to my Calliope. She doesn’t like me calling her that, but I love the sound of her full name so every time I think of her, I think of her full name.
She watches the sunset in awe, and I can’t help but admire her. I’m eager for the sun to fully go down because I know she will light up when the fireflies come out. They surround this area, and it has always been my favorite place to come and relax.
She looks towards me with her beautiful smile and she asks, “So, you said this is your family’s property. How long have you guys lived here?”
“Oh, they’ve been here for years.”
She tilts her head to the side and looks at me curiously and asks, “If you have lived here that long then why have I never seen you in school until a couple weeks ago?”
I wish I could tell her the truth, but I know it’s not time for that yet, so I say, “I went to a boarding school.”
She nods then asks, “Why would you come back here for just the last year of high school?”
If only she knew that I’ve already graduated and the only reason I’m at the school is because of her. I’m actually taking online college courses and I work on that during school hours. Due to the principal and the main staff of the school being werewolves they all understand and don’t care as long as I don’t cause any drama. Besides, I am an Alpha and everyone knows better than to attempt to argue with me.
“My dad passed a few years ago and my mom was just having too hard of a time without me here.”
Her eyes soften at the news of my father and she grabs my hand and says, “I am so sorry for your loss, Titus.”
I nod, “It was tough. It’s still tough on my mom and I strive to fill his shoes.”
She stays quiet unsure of how to fill the silence. Then I see her face light up and I realize that the sun is fully down, and she got her first glimpse at a firefly.
Suddenly they surround us, and her jaw drops open as she looks around and she says, “This is incredible.”
I grin, “I’m glad you like it.”
She scoots closer to me and says, “Thanks for bringing me here.”
She gives me a kiss in the cheek and I just melt, and it causes my wolf to surface, and he demands: Mark her now. Everyone needs to know she’s ours!
I hiss back: Not now, she’s human, Kane, you have to be patient.
He grumbles back something that I can’t understand, but I ignore him and wrap my arm around Cali and pull her closer to me and she leans against my chest as she watches everything. Her eyes wide and a small smile on her face. I kiss her head and take a deep breath of her scent- I will never get tired of her or her scent.
Cal
I can’t believe how perfect this night has been. I can’t believe that Titus’ family actually owns this place. I could seriously spend all my time here it is so relaxing.
Sitting in his arms feels natural and I feel the bond I have with him getting stronger every moment that I am with him.
He kisses the side of my head and I sigh and say, “I wish we could stay here forever. I don’t want to leave you.”
“Maybe one day you won’t have to.”
I smile at the thought of ending up with him. I always thought Alexander was my future, my destiny, but since meeting Titus I realize that I deserved someone who would treat me better than Alexander ever did. I deserve someone like Titus.
He brings me back home and gives me a light peck on the lips and asks, “Can I pick you up for school tomorrow?”
I chuckle, “You don’t have to do that, Titus.”
“I might not have to, but I want to. Is that okay?”
I nod, “Sure, but I like to get there by 7:30… is that okay?”
He nods and is grinning ear to ear and I can’t help but smile when I see him so excited like this and he says, “That’s fine, I’ll be here by like 7:15, okay?”
I nod, “Okay.”
He kisses me again and I walk into my home. I hear my parent’s door and my mom walks into the room trying to be casual just in case Titus was still here. She sees it’s just me and smiles and asks, “How’d your date go, lovebug?”
“It was really good, mama.”
“The flowers he got you are gorgeous.”
I nod in agreement and I hear my dad’s footsteps. I walk over and hug him, and he asks, “Did you have a nice time?”
I grin, “It was great, dad.”
He nods and looks at me curiously and I ask, “Is something wrong?”
He shakes his head no and says, “You just smell different. Did you wear your perfume today?”
“Oh no, I actually forgot to.” Guilt overtakes me because I know how much he likes me to wear the perfume he got me and I say, “I’m so sorry, daddy.”
He says, “It’s okay, love, just please remember to wear it at school tomorrow. I’m going to bed.” He looks at my mom and back at me and says, “You girls have fun chatting.”
“I love you dad.”
He smiles back at me, “I love you, Cal.”
My mom says, “Love you Richard, I’ll be in soon.”
He nods, and my mom looks at me with a grin and asks, “You want some hot chocolate, and we can sit and talk?”
I nod eagerly, “Sounds great, mom!”
