Titus
I lead Calliope to her parents’ room, and I took her dad aside to let him know what was going on. I was confident that there wasn’t any better person I could have watching over her than the man who has done it perfectly for the past 18 years.
I walk towards our meeting room where I know the previous patrol shift, as well as some of our best warriors, and my Beta and Gamma are waiting. With every step I feel more furious that I either have a weasel in my pack or someone crossed our borders, made it inside the pack house, and into my bedroom in order to leave that note.
I walk into the room and everyone immediately stands and looks over at me to see what is going on. Eric and Hugh can see how pissed off I am and when I go take my place at the head of the table, I hear Eric ask me softly, “What’s going on, Alpha?”
I glare at him and he moved away from me and I say to everyone, “You all may be seated.”
I take a deep breath and say with my Alpha tone laced in, “What is said in this room will not be spoken to anyone else, understood?”
Everyone showed me their neck in submission as they respond, “Yes Alpha.”
I huff and my hands clench into fists when I speak, “When your Luna and I came home from our run she went up to our room to take a bath. When she looked in the mirror, she found this.”
I set the note on the table and Hugh stands and grabs it and read it out loud, “We know what you are, “Luna”.”
He looks at me confused and I say, “Either we have a weasel in our pack, or someone was able to make it across pack borders, into the pack house, and into my bedroom.”
I glare at everyone, but they all look at me stunned. I look towards the people in charge of our patrols, and I say, “I want there to be more intense trainings and I expect everyone to be on their best guard as they take their shifts. I don’t know who this person is or what they want, but I will not tolerate any threat towards my pack. Especially whenever they’re targeting my Luna.”
Everyone says, “Yes Alpha.”
I nod and walk out of the meeting room. I think I’m going to go for a run around the perimeter of our pack line. I just… I am so on edge now. What do they mean ‘We know what you are’? It just doesn’t make any sense.
I huff as I walk outside and get prepared to shift, but I hear footsteps behind me, and I turn around and see Eric and Hugh coming after me. I try my best not to be annoyed, but I have a lot of pent-up energy and anger due to this. I ask, “What’s up, boys?”
They look at each other and then back at me and Hugh says, “We’ll go on the run with you and how about we go workout after? You look like you want to punch something.”
The corner of my mouth twitches up and I nod, “Yeah, that’d be nice. Let’s go, if I don’t make it back for dinner, I know Cali will be worried.”
Both boys nod and we shift- not caring about the fact we’re shredding our clothes. We all just need to run and get some of this energy and anger off of our chests.
Cal
I sit in my parents bathtub and I stare at the ceiling.
We know what you are.
What am I?
I wish they would’ve elaborated because honest to God, I don’t understand. What am I?
I sigh, I bet it has something to do with my eyes and my markings. I would love to know more details about it and if someone has the information that I’m looking for I wish they would just come forward and say something.
I huff as I shift changing my position slightly. This was supposed to be a bath to warm myself up and relax and now my mind just feels full of confusion and I’m unable to relax.
I get out of the bath and get into one of the bath robes and walk out to my parents room. My dad isn’t in here, but I’m sure he’s not far away. My mom sits on her bed and she looks up at me and asks, “How are you doing, Cal?”
I sigh as I sit on the edge of the bed and say, “I’m confused.”
She nods, “Titus told your dad about it.”
I shrug, “I figured he would’ve. I just don’t get it, mom. What am I? I don’t even know and if they know then why are they hiding?”
She sighs, “My dear, you are wonderful. Don’t focus so much on this, in due time I am sure we will figure out all about your eyes and your markings.”
I nod in agreement and she passes me a stack of clothes and says, “Titus asked someone to drop off some clothes for you.”
I smile as I take them from her and walk back to the bathroom to get changed. I know Titus doesn’t want me to go back to our room so now I can’t help but wonder where we’ll be sleeping.
I’m grateful the clothes that were brought to me were just lounge around the house clothes. I put on the yoga pants along with one of Titus’ t-shirts and I ran back towards my mom as I hopped on the bed making her laugh loudly. She turned on the TV and I snuggled closer to her just enjoying her presence. She’s always been my best friend and in this time of uncertainty she gives me a peace that no one else can.
