Cal
After Titus and I got done in the shower he had to carry me to the bed because my legs felt like gelatin. We lied in bed for awhile and held hands as we listened to each other’s deep breaths.
Suddenly, he breaks the silence and asks, “Are you ready, Cali?”
I look towards him and ask, “For what, Ti?”
“To be Luna? You’re supposed to have your ceremony tomorrow where we officially add you into the pack and you commit yourself as Luna. Are you ready? Because I feel like something is bothering you or holding you back.”
I sigh heavily, “Honestly, I’m scared. Everything has been constantly changing for me and quite frankly it’s terrifying and I don’t know how to be a Luna. I sometimes feel like the moon goddess cursed you with me because I have no idea how to be a werewolf and how to be a leader or how any of this works.”
He sits up and tugs on my hand until I sit up beside him. He turns towards me and he grabs my face and says, “Calliope, the moon goddess blessed me with you. You are not a curse; I promise you that. So, what if you weren’t raised as a werewolf? I’ve met Alphas who actually have humans for mates and their mates are wonderful Lunas! If they can do it then why can’t you?”
“I just want to be able to support you and do good for this pack, but I’m scared I’m not good enough.”
“You are good enough, Cali. Just believe in yourself.”
I nod in agreement and he presses a kiss against my hand and says, “Let’s get you something to eat and we can relax with a movie. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, you’ll want to get all the rest that you can.”
I smile and nod in agreement and ask, “Could we have pizza for dinner?”
He walks over to his laptop and passes it to me and says, “Order from wherever you want, and I’ll send an omega to pick it up.”
Alexander
I lie in bed, exhausted from today. I’m unable to eat, drink, or sleep. I just sit here staring at the ceiling and cursing myself for ever letting Cal go.
Her wolf… it’s gorgeous and it haunts me. Bruce whimpers in my head because he longs to know the name of our rejected mate.
Her wolf’s eyes were this stunning amethyst purple, and I could’ve stared at her forever. I hear a knock on my door, and I groan in response. My door creaks over and I look over to see Haley poking her head in and she says, “Dad wants to see you for dinner, now.”
I huff as I push myself off the bed. The last thing I want is to see him or be around him. Ever since I found out Cal has a wolf it has spiraled me into a worse depression. I saw the mark on her neck today and her scent has changed because it’s now intertwined with his. I clench my fist in anger as I walk. It should be my mark on her neck! It should be my scent that hers is mixed with. I stomp into the dining room where my parents sit at the head of the table. Haley sits on mom’s side and I sit on dads. I wait for the omega’s to bring us our trays of food and then they quietly slip out of the room. I mess with my food a little, but I can’t find enough of an appetite to really eat any of it.
My mother’s concerned voice says, “What wrong, Alex? It’s your favorite meal.”
She’s right, I would normally gobble down steak and mashed potatoes, but I just can’t get myself to eat. Bruce sighs loudly in my head and I can tell he is feeling just as depressed as I am. I murmur, “I’m fine, mom.”
My dad says in a harsh tone, “What is it?”
I look at him and then back at my mom debating whether or not I should say anything. If my mom found out that my dad made me reject my mate she would be pissed. Then again, I wouldn’t mind him getting an earful from her right now. I answer with a shrug, “I miss Cal.”
My dad dramatically rolls his eyes and my mom sighs, “I know, son, but just think when you find your true mate you’ll be glad that you broke things off with her whenever you did.”
I shake my head, “Mom, you don’t get it. Cal was my true mate.”
Her eyebrows knit together in confusion and my dad kicks my shin underneath the table and glares at me. My mom looks between my dad and me and she asks, “What are you talking about, Alexander?”
I look at my father as he continues to glare at me and I say, “Dad made me reject her because she’s a human. Oh, but guess what? Turns out she’s not a human, dad. She just didn’t have her wolf yet!”
He has the audacity to shrug it off and says, “Then go claim your mate. What’s the issue?”
“She had a second chance mate and is now marked! I am left alone without a true mate because I was stupid enough to listen to you! Now, I’ll never be a strong Alpha. Not without her by my side.”
My dad growls, “Oh, shut up! You are a strong wolf, and you will be plenty strong with a chosen mate, a more powerful she-wolf.”
I huff, “Dad, she’s the most powerful she-wolf I’ve ever seen.”
Haley speaks up, “He’s right, dad, she has a very strong aura ever since gaining her wolf. It’s like you have no choice, but to submit to her.”
My dad and mom look at one another and my mom asks, “What does her wolf look like? Have you seen it?”
“She’s silver with the most beautiful amethyst color eyes and she has a white diamond marking on her head.”
My mom gasps and stands up and I see that my parent’s eyes glaze over and they quickly excuse themselves and rush off. I try to follow but my dad used his Alpha tone to command me to stay away.
An hour goes by and I walk by their room hoping to be able to have a conversation with them. The only reason I could hear anything is due to my wolf hearing and I can clearly hear my mother say in a hushed tone, “Do you really think she could be an amethyst wolf?”
Things get too quiet, and I hear footsteps and I rush back to my room. I ask Bruce: Do you know what they’re talking about?
He grumbles in response and I sigh as I lie on my bed and wish for sleep to overtake me.
