Titus:
I walk inside with Cali beside me and I’m carrying all of the donuts in my hands while she brings our drinks inside. I’m on cloud 9 that she agreed to be my girlfriend. I don’t care if we have to go slow, I’m just ecstatic that this is the beginning of her being mine.
I want to be possessive of her and I watch as she passes everyone a drink and I have to suppress a growl from slipping through my lips when she laughs at something that Eric says. I know my Beta and Gamma both have their mates but having Alpha blood makes you ten times more possessive and both of the boys are still currently unmarked males.
I desperately want to put my mark on her, but I know that will have to wait for another time. I don’t want to scare her off. Especially whenever she just became mine and already seems wary of starting a relationship so fast.
When she sits down next to the girls and not by me, I can’t ignore the pang I feel in my chest that she doesn’t want to be close to me. I hear my wolf whimper in my mind as he feels like she is rejecting us.
I can’t help but wonder who has hurt her so bad and makes her want to go so slow. I open a mind link with everyone here, and I ask: Who hurt her? Why is she hesitant with me?
There’s silence and I can see from the way Olive and Britt’s posture changed that they definitely heard me. Olive sighs through the link: With all due respect, Alpha, I think it’s best if she tells you.
I want to be upset with her for not telling me, but I appreciate her looking out for her future Luna. I look over at Cali and she looks back at me with a smile on her face and it makes my heart warm to see her smile at me like that.
Everything was great until I felt a hard press in my head from someone trying to connect to me through the mind link. I open up and I hear my mother’s voice say one word:
Rogues!
With that my heart stopped and my blood ran cold and I know Hugh and Eric heard it too as we all look at each other with wide eyes and I say, “I’m so sorry, Cali, we have to go.”
She looks at me with a confused look and each of the boys kiss their mate’s goodbye and I wave bye to Cali before we all run out the door. I see a tree line and I rush over and as soon as I’m under the cover of the trees I let my wolf take over and rush off to protect our pack.
Cal:
Titus, Hugh, and Eric leave abruptly and I’m unsure why. Both Olive and Britt seem on edge after they left and nothing that I suggest seems to take their minds off their boyfriends.
I don’t understand what’s going on, but the nervous energy has me on edge. I hear the door shut and I turn to see my parents enter the room. My mom hugs me and greets us all with a big smile, but my dad seems stiff and on edge as he looks between the three of us.
He looks at my mom and it’s like they were communicating without speaking because my mom ushered me into her room leaving my friends alone with my dad. I thought it was weird, but I wasn’t going to question it.
My mom brings me towards her bathroom and starts to do my hair as she asks me questions about homecoming night, but I can’t help but wonder what’s going on in the living room and what made Titus and the boys rush out of here so fast.
Olive:
The second that Cal’s parents walked through the door I knew that her dad must have more wolf in him than we originally thought. Britt grabbed my hand and looked at me with wide eyes because from his scent we can tell he’s a lone wolf. He doesn’t smell like a rogue, but he definitely doesn’t belong to a pack.
Cal’s mom rushes off with her and her dad stands in front of us and looks between the two of us and asks, “Who was here?”
Britt answers, “What makes you think anyone was here?”
He scoffs and looks towards the door that led to his bedroom and then back at us and says, “I know you two are werewolves. I’ve always known, and I know that there were at least two other wolves here recently so I’m going to ask again, who was here?”
I sigh, “Our mates.”
He nods in understanding and he says, “Do not tell them about me, understood? It’s for Cal’s protection.”
Britt looks at him with a confused expression and asks, “How does it affect her safety?”
He huffs and looks towards his bedroom door and says, “Please, trust me. I just want my daughter safe. Please don’t reveal me. I bring no harm to any pack.”
I nod, “Okay. We want her safe too.”
He smiles and says softly, “Thank you.”
Britt and I quickly say goodbye and as we leave, I hear Titus’ voice in our heads: Rogues are gone. You can come to the pack whenever you want.
Knowing that the rogues are gone fills me with relief especially because I know Eric must be fine because Titus didn’t say anything about him.
