Titus
I didn’t like what Andrea was doing to Cali. Kane was anxious in my head and neither one of us liked the kinds of noises that Cali was making because it seemed like she must be in pain.
I sit on the edge of the bed and fist my hands into the comforter in an effort to keep myself where I’m at. It is hard for me to remain sitting and to not move Andrea away from her, but I know that I need to give her a chance before pulling them apart.
Suddenly a bright light takes over the room blinding me, and I hear a crash and grunting sounds. The light goes away as soon as it came, and Andrea is on the other side of the room among shards of a coffee table, and I look over at Calliope who fell on her butt maybe one foot away from where she was.
I go to take a step towards her and watch as she shakes her head slowly and looks up and slowly blinks and I can’t help the gasp that slips from my lips.
I ask Andrea with a wavering voice, “What is that?”
Cali looks at me with a pout, but I can’t stop staring at her. Her eyes aren’t brown like they used to be. They’re violet… I’ve never seen such a color before. I mean her wolf, Esther, has amethyst-colored eyes, but Cali’s are so much more vibrant. There are diamond shapes on her forehead like a crown, but the center diamond is larger than the other. And on her shoulders and down her arms are more little diamond shapes. I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s so weird and scary, but she is so stunning.
Her presence is radiating power that Kane wants to submit to her as if she was his alpha and not the other way around.
I gulp nervously and Cali begins to take a few steps towards me, and the concern is so obvious on her face as she lightly touches my cheek and asks, “Are you okay, Titus?”
It’s like the mate bond is even stronger because the tingles I feel from this small touch is electric and I have a hard time focusing on anything other than the idea of mating her.
I can faintly hear Andrea and I turn towards her and ask, “Have you ever seen anything like this?”
She sighs, “I’ve heard rumors, Alpha Titus.”
“Rumors of what?”
Her eyes flicker over to Cali who is watching and listening intently. She sighs, “I’ve heard rumors that the markings are the marks of royal wolves.”
Cali’s face scrunches up in confusion as she asks, “There are royal wolves? I thought there was just Alphas and Lunas?”
Andrea glances at me and I sigh and say, “Andrea, would you mind asking my mother to meet us in the meeting room upstairs?”
She nods and excuses herself from the room and I turn towards Cali. She has her arms crossed in a way that shows off her breasts and I feel my mouth go dry as I have this overwhelming desire to mark her.
She looks at me with a pointed look and asks, “Are you going to explain to me what’s going on? What do I have that’s like ‘royal wolves’? And why does you keep looking at me like something is different?”
I sigh, “Go look in the mirror.”
Her eyebrows furrow and she walks towards the bathroom and I hear her gasp loudly. I walk towards her as she stares in the mirror and begins to touch her face and the markings on her. She looks towards me and says in a panicked tone, “I don’t understand.”
I bite my lower lip and shake my head because honestly, I don’t either and I don’t know how to reassure her. She begins to touch around her eyes, and I say, “You know, you’re still gorgeous, Cali.”
She shakes her head and scoffs, “No, I’m not. I look weird, Titus. I feel embarrassed to even be around you!”
Tears well up in her eyes and she turns away from me. I rush towards her and turn her around and pull her into my chest as I soothingly pet her hair and tell her, “You’re gorgeous, Cali. Your eyes are stunning, and the markings just enhance your beauty.”
She sniffles and looks up at me as she asks, “Really?”
I can’t help but smile as I nod, “Really. Now, let’s go up to the meeting room and see if my mom can help us out.”
“I don’t want anyone to see me like this!” She exclaims as she pushes past me and falls onto our bed. I hold back my laughter from watching her act like a toddler throwing a tantrum. I walk to my closet and find one of my hoodies and I toss it over to her. It lands on her and she looks up at me with a pout and I say, “Put this on to cover the markings and keep your head down till we get there so no one notices your eyes, okay?”
She nods as she puts the hoodie on and when she’s done, I grab her hand and we walk upstairs. Hopefully, my mom can help us get answers and when Cali’s parents come back, I need to see if there’s something her dad knows that he’s not telling us.
