Sixty-Three | Dangerous Game

Titus I sit in my office feeling just angry and annoyed. It’s been like a constant state of being for me right now the only time I feel good is when Cali is near me. No one has left another note for us and my mom and I are still trying to figure out what exactly we should send to the Alpha King and Queen. Should we send them a traditional letter? Try to find an email? Should we just fly out to them and hope they let us in so that we could speak to them? I groan as I begin to get another headache just thinking about it. I need to talk to Calliope about all of it, but I don’t want to put any more on her than I have to. I can tell that she hates that we can’t sleep in our bedroom, she is constantly doing stuff within our pack, and she has her schoolwork. She just seems overwhelmed as it is, I don’t want to add more into it. I feel a slight pressure in my head indicating that someone is trying to mind link me. I open the link and hear Eric’s panicked voice: Titus, is Cali with you? I check the time and he knows as well as I do that she has one more class today. I respond: No, she has one more class. He doesn’t say anything, and I open the link up to Hugh as well so now it’s like we’re in a three-way call. I say: Hugh, Eric doesn’t know where Cali is, do you? He hesitates before responding: I don’t. I’m outside trying to see if I can catch her scent anywhere. I mumble a curse word and I close my link with them as I attempt to connect with Cali. I call her name through our link: Cali? Nothing. I groan and push harder: Calliope? Still nothing. I growl lowly because if she did this on purpose I am furious with her. I move away from my desk and loosen my tie throwing it on the desk. I begin to walk out of my office and head towards the front door as I slowly unbutton my shirt. I continue to press through our link trying to make her answer me. I walk past my mom and she sees my upset face and asks, “What’s wrong, son?” I growl out, “Cali isn’t at school.” I notice her make a face in my peripheral, but I don’t worry about it right now. The second my feet hit the ground I throw my shirt off and allow Kane to take over and he shreds my pants in his transformation. He growls the second he has fully surfaced, and he begins to sniff the air trying anything he can to find our mate. He is just as upset as I am that she hasn’t answered our calls. Cal Esther is playing a dangerous game by not answering Titus’ mind links. She’s been just as upset with him lately as I have, but she refuses to answer him and has asked me not to answer either. I know that there are going to repercussions to this, but I respect her decision. I have to allow her to have times to be in control it’s the only way that this relationship works between us. She ran us all the way home and took us straight to the waterfall. She lays on the ground with her head between her paws and she closes her eyes just enjoying the sound of the waterfall. She speaks to me: This is the most peaceful place to me. It also makes me feel closer to mate. He’s been distant lately- I don’t like it. I sigh sadly and respond: I don’t like it either. There’s a pause and she asks: I wasn’t around when you were with Alexander. How was it? I’m surprised she wants to hear anything about him. She always just focuses on Titus and has said that Alexander is our past and that she doesn’t want to know anything about him. I respond: There were good times and there were bad. By the end of it I felt like he was only using me for my body. But before that things were great and not complicated. Once s*x got added in it seemed to complicate things too much. That’s why I was scared to do stuff with Titus. Now he acts so distant… we rarely had s*x since we mated. It makes me wonder if he found someone else. She reassures me immediately: He hasn’t. We would feel a lot of pain if he was with another woman. Her eye pop open and her ears perk up because she can hear footsteps. She stands up and walks closer to the waterfall and slips behind it and it’s like a small cave in here. She lies back down and I ask: Why did you hide? She answers nonchalantly: Mate is searching for us. If he wants to find us he will have to search harder. I chuckle: You’re really mad at him, huh? She doesn’t respond and after a minute passed she asks: Do you trust me, Cali? Like if I fully blocked you out where you couldn’t hear or see would that be okay? I mean, I don’t want you making a habit out of that, but if you ever felt like you needed to then that’s fine. I trust you. I feel the pride that she feels in my words and again her ears perk up and I know that Titus must be really close. I’m sure we’re about to be in a pretty big fight.
