I listen carefully and I sit up and face the direction I see my mate walking in. He stands tall, but he growls at me wanting me to submit to him because he is angry that I didn’t answer his mind links.

I warn Cal: I’m blocking you out, trust me.

She responds back without hesitation: I do.

I feel good that she trusts me so much as I push her out. Titus attempts to open a mind link with me, and I huff as I allow his voice to fill my head: What do you think you’re doing, Cali?

I am not Cali. I answer with confidence.

I hear him sigh and he says: Give Cali control, Esther.

I respond back with a shake of my head: No, I need to speak to my mate without you.

He lets out a loud growl both Titus and Kane not liking that I’m ignoring a direct order and commanding something from him. His wolf begins to walk in circles around me and I hear Kane’s voice fill my head and I have to fight the urge not to purr from the sound of his voice: You’re playing a dangerous game, Esther. You know an angry Alpha is not one to be messed with.

I take a deep breath and respond: Block Titus. I want to speak with just you.

I watch as he sits across from me and it takes a few minutes before he responds to me: He’s blocked. Now, what’s going on, little mate?

I’m upset with you. Calliope is upset with Titus.

He whimpers softly from that then shakes his head and responds: I’m upset with you. You didn’t answer my calls! You know things are dangerous right now.

 I growl back: And you know you can’t keep me locked up!

I want to keep you safe! He walks over to me trying to show off his dominance and I stand up and allow my power to flow through me, so he’ll feel the need to submit to me and not the other way around.

And you’re going about it the wrong way!

He whimpers and begins to show me his neck in submission and I huff as I lie back down with my head between my paws. I close my eyes and listen as he walks around me as he tries to plan his next move.

I hear him lie down and his fur brushes against mine and he places his head on top of mine. He asks: What’s bothering you, Esther?

Cali had a flashback today.

Alexander. He lets out a low growl from the mention of his name and I lift my head up and nudge my nose against his. I continue: I think that he rejected her and well me… and that you’re our second chance mate.

His head tilts to the side in confusion and I continue: I think there’s something going on there that’s more complex than any of us know. Alexander seems to be looking for Titus to break up with Cali even though he knows that we are fully mated. I just… I think he’s somehow involved with the letter.

He huffs and scoots closer to me as he mutters: Mine.

I smile: Yours, always. I just thought you needed to know. Does it bother you if you were my second chance?

No, it doesn’t. What matters is you’re here with me now and I love you. But I need you and Calliope to be more careful.

And I need you to have some faith in us. Stop having Hugh and Eric guard us every second and get a room for us that’s not your office and freaking be intimate with me!

He chuckles deeply through our link and I huff: It’s not funny. Do you know how sensitive Cali is about s*x? She has already thought that Titus has cheated on her. He’s not doing anything to make her feel wanted.

I’ll let him know.

Don’t tell him about Alexander.

I won’t. There’s no concrete proof for any of it. It would only hurt him for no reason.

I nod in agreement and he says: I love being with you, Esther, but we should probably let them have control so they can reconcile.

I’ll see you later, Kane, I love you.

I love you, little mate.

Titus

I groan in displeasure as I am trapped in the darkness of my own mind. Kane freaking trapped me in here so that I couldn’t listen in on his and Esther’s conversation and I’m freaking pissed with him.

Suddenly, I feel a slight opening in my mind and I hear his voice as he calmly tells me: I’m sorry. I did what I needed to do. Now, before I let you take control again you need to listen to me. You need to prioritize Cali and stop treating her like a child. She is a strong woman and she doesn’t like to be babysat. You are pushing her away and it’s causing her to have stupid concerns.

I scoff: Like what?

He hesitates before answering me and then mutters: She has been worried that you’ve been cheating on her.

I am stunned by his statement and I take a deep breath and tell him: Let me out. I need to speak with her now.

Just go easy on her, Ti. You got this.

I smile at his reassuring words and I relish in the feeling of being in charge of my own mind again. I open my eyes but Cali isn’t next to me anymore. I begin to panic until I see her wolf slipping back in with clothes in her mouth. She sets the clothes down and quickly shifts. I watch her lustfully as I see her perfect nude body in front of me.

She glances at me and asks, “Are you going to shift or not?”

I shift and reach out for my clothes. Once we’re both fully clothed she takes a deep breath and crosses her arms and says, “So, let’s talk.”
