Cal
True to his word Titus shows up at 7:15 and he has my favorite Frappuccino in hand. I grin and give him a kiss on the cheek and say, “Thanks, Titus.”
“No biggie, Cali.”
He opens my door and waits for me to get inside so he can close it before running back to his side of the car. He starts driving towards school and holds my hand the whole way there and occasionally brings it up to his lips to give it a soft peck.
He makes me feel so adored. I never felt this way with Alexander. With Alex a lot of times I questioned if he even enjoyed having me around. We had our good times... but I have a hard time remembering them because all I can immediately recall is how poorly he treated me in the end.
We pull up to the parking lot at the school and once again he comes and opens my door and he holds my hand in his as we walk towards the entrance of the school. It feels unusual doing this- I’ve never walked into school like this before and I feel like he’s trying to make a giant announcement to show off we’re a couple.
I don’t really like being the center of attention so I can feel the heat in my cheeks feeling embarrassed at everyone staring at us. Titus is very attractive and his presence demands attention, so every single eye is on us as we walk to the lockers. We get to mine and Titus leans against the locker beside me and watches as I get my books out. I almost drop my books out of nervousness due to the watching eyes and the quiet whispers of those around us.
I hear a loud squeal and I turn around trying to identify the sound when I get pushed to the side and I see Haley with her arms wrapped around Titus. She pulls away from him and puts her hand on his face as she says, “Oh Titus, I missed you so much this weekend! I couldn’t find you at the dance because of the sea of masks around us.”
I want to growl because she is touching what’s mine. I hear a voice in my head yell: Mine! Mate!
The voice confused me and made my eyebrows furrow in confusion as I stand there dumbfounded. I watch as Titus pushes Haley off of him and says, “Haley, I’m not interested. I’ve told you this a thousand times. And you are being incredibly disrespectful to my girlfriend.”
He puts a lot of emphasis on girlfriend and it made butterflies swarm through my stomach. The voice in my head settles because he is declaring me as his and pushing the other girl away. He grabs my hand and pulls me to his side and I can't help but smile at him. Haley looks at me in shock and I watch as Alexander walks over to join us and he asks smoothly, “What’s going on here?”
He looks me up and down in a way that is so obvious that he wants me. Used to that look filled me with happiness because he was actually giving me attention, but now it fills me with disgust.
Titus must’ve noticed because he slightly steps in front of me as if trying to hide my body away from Alex’s eyes. Titus says, “Your sister keeps acting like we’re a couple when we’re not. This is my girlfriend, Cali.”
Alex’s eyes grow dark as he looks at me and back at Titus. I hear some footsteps rush up behind me and Olive tugs on my arm and says, “Come on, Cal, let’s get to class.”
I look towards Titus and he gives me a reassuring smile and says, “Go. I’ll meet you after class.”
I nod, and Olive wraps her arm around me and leads me away from the scene.
Titus
I was relieved when Olive and Eric showed up. Olive immediately ran off with Cali because she could sense the tension in the air. Eric stood by my side and glared at Alexander and asks, “What’s going on here?”
Alexander glares at us and asks, “What are you doing with her?”
I respond, “She’s my mate. What’s it to you?”
Haley scoffs, “That fat w***e is your mate-”
Before she can finish her sentence, I yell back with my Alpha tone laced in my voice, “You will not speak about her that way!”
She submits to me by baring her neck to me and Alexander steps up and says, “You will not make my sister submit! Apologize, now!”
I scoff, “I will not. She has been disrespectful towards my mate and has not taken no for an answer with me. She doesn’t deserve my apology.”
Alexander shakes his head and says, “How can she be your mate when she is human?”
Eric speaks up, “It is possible to have a human mate.”
Alexander rolls his eyes and looks back at me and says, “It’s too bad for you, Titus. She’ll come crawling back to me if I give her the light of day.”
He’s her ex. His behavior it makes so much sense now. But I am furious to know who treated my princess so poorly.
I take a step towards him and all I want to do is punch the crap out of him and I look down at him and say, “You will not go near her, understand me?”
He smirks and says, “Keep this in mind, Titus. She was mine first and a part of her will always be mine.”
I roar with anger and Eric had to hold me back and Alexander and his sister walk away from me laughing. I need to get to Cali. I need her presence to help me calm down.
Eric knows this and says, “Don’t do anything stupid, just wait here.”
I nod and sit on the ground holding my head and trying to maintain my cool. I want to smell Cali’s scent, but I know I won’t be able to.
I don’t know what she does, but I noticed it when I picked her up this morning that her scent was gone. No wonder it took me so long to find her. Now, I just need to figure out what makes her scent go away. Once I figure it out I'm going to make sure she doesn't use it ever again. Her scent is intoxicating and there's no reason for it to be masked.
