Eric:
We have finally either chased off or killed all of the rogues that invaded our pack. I speak to Olive through our mind link: Olive, we’ve gotten the rogues off our property you guys can come home whenever you’re ready.
Her voice floods my head and makes my wolf purr in delight: I’m glad to hear your safe. Britt and I will be coming home soon.
No rush, Oli.
The link closes and I see Hugh and Titus walking towards me and we are all still in our wolf form. We all shift at the same time none of us bothered by the nudity of each other. Titus walks behind a tree and tosses a pair of basketball shorts to each of us and we all cover up. Titus looks between Hugh and I and ask, “Is everything okay?”
We both nod and Titus looks frustrated as his mom comes up towards us and greets us formally, “Alpha, Beta, Gamma.”
Titus rolls his eyes, “What’s up mom?”
She sighs, “I’m proud of you son, you handled yourself so well out there.”
She hugs Titus as he chuckles softly, “It’s not like it’s the first time I’ve had to defend my territory and I’m sure it won’t be the last time.”
She nods, “Are you going to go back and be with your mate?”
He shakes his head no, “Probably not, she’s not one of us and I don’t want to scare her off by coming on too strong.”
She nods in understanding and says, “That seems wise.”
She looks at each of us and her eyes fall on her son and she says, “You have one month and then I must meet her. Fair?”
He breathes heavily but nods in agreement which makes his mom light up as she says, “Good. You boys get washed up I’ll have a special dinner made for y’all at the pack house.”
I grin, “Thanks Luna.”
Cal
When I got done with my mom both Britt and Olive had to leave and head home. I go up to my room and lie in bed unable to get my mind off of Titus.
I have never felt this way about anyone- not even Alexander and it terrifies me to think of how he could shatter me worse than Alexander did.
A part of me wonders if I should just back out of the relationship now and save myself the heartache.
My phone dings and I look at it and I’m surprised to see a text from Titus. It's as if he knew I was having second thoughts and knew he needed to show me that's the wrong step to take. His text said: You free tonight?
Butterflies flutter through my stomach and I smile as I respond: What do you have in mind?
Immediately the phone dings: Surprise. You in?
I breathe out nervously as I wonder what I should do. But there's a part of me that is craving to see him, it's like I need him in order to survive. So, I respond: I’m in.
Great. I’ll be there at 6.
I rush down the stairs because I wanted to see if my mom would want to help me get dressed. She’s cleaning in our foyer and I sigh. She’s a bit anal when it comes to the cleanliness of our house. It always smells like chemicals here- I’ve grown used to it, but I notice how my friend’s noses will flare due to the strong smell and that they prefer me going over to their houses instead of them coming to mine.
I clear my throat and my mom looks up at me with a surprised face and asks, “You okay Cali-pie?”
I smile at her nickname and say, “Yeah mom. Just um… I have a date tonight and I was hoping you could help me get ready.”
Her eyes light up and she asks, “A date? With who? The boy from the dance?”
I nod in response and say, “His name is Titus.”
She smiles, “I need to finish this up. How about you start trying on outfits to show me? And I will help you with your make up once I get done cleaning.”
I smile, “Sounds great. Hey, where did dad go?”
“He’s taking a shower and then I think he’s going to take a nap. He was exhausted after our impromptu trip.”
I nod in understanding and say, “I’m going to go get dressed.”
I rush to my room and try to find something that I can wear. I find some ripped up jeans and a turquoise blouse that has the sleeves off the shoulders. I walk back out to my mom and she looks me up and down and says, “That looks nice, but why don’t you try on a dress or oh what about that rainbow skirt you have. It twirls so nice and is so you!”
I smile at her excitement and rush back to my room and grab the A-line tea length rainbow skirt and paired it with a black t-shirt that says #blessed on it. I rush back to my mom and she smiles and says, “That looks adorable, Cal. Do you feel comfortable in it?”
I nod and smile as I sit with her and talk to her while she finishes up the rest of what she’s doing.
The closer it gets to the time Titus should be here the more nervous I get. My mom has completed the finishing touches on my makeup and braided my hair into a waterfall braid. After she got done, she left to her room because she didn’t want me to feel like she was being overbearing. I appreciate her so much and I hope when the time comes that Titus will like my parents because if they don’t approve of him it doesn’t matter how much I like him I won’t stay with him. My parent’s approval means too much to me.
I hear a knock on the door, and I take a deep breath and stand up and smooth out my skirt and I open the door.
