Cal I noticed how angry Titus got whenever I mentioned being intimate with Alexander. It really worried me that Titus wouldn’t want to be with me anymore. He reassured me that wasn’t the case and whenever he said I was a girl worth waiting for I felt like my heart could explode. I’ve never met someone that is as nice as him and he makes me want to be around him constantly. We pull up to my favorite diner that is right outside the city. He rushes to my door and opens it for me and helps me out of the car and we walk hand in hand into the restaurant. I normally come here with my dad at least once a week and the people here are like family. I look around for the hostess, Betty and I spot her with her signature dirty blonde messy bun, her blue eyes with her bright blue glasses, and her black dress with a pink checkered apron wrapped around her waist. She’s busy with another customer right now so I wave and walk over to my normal spot. Titus gives me a peculiar look and doesn’t sit down as he asks, “Shouldn’t we wait to be seated?” “Oh, don’t worry about it-” Before I can finish my sentence, I notice Betty running over to us and as she comes this way she says, “Cal, sweet pea, is everything okay?” I smile and stand up to hug her and say, “I’m fine, Betty.” I look at Titus and say, “This is my boyfriend, Titus.” He holds his hand out to shake hers and she looks at him with wide eyes and then looks at me and says, “Wow, not at all what I was expecting. When did you get a new boyfriend?” I laugh as I shrug, “A few days ago. Now are you going to say hi to him or are you going to keep being rude?” She blushes from my teasing her and she shakes Titus’ hand and says, “It’s nice to meet you, sir. You better be treating our girl good.” He grins, “I’m doing the best I can to make her happy, ma’am.” She rolls her eyes, “Don’t call me ‘ma’am’ it makes me feel old!” She looks to me and asks, “You want your usual, sweet pea?” I nod, “Sounds great, Betty.” She looks to Titus and he says, “I’ll get what she’s having. I’m sure she has great taste.” Betty’s eyebrows raise up and she looks at me and says, “He’s quite the charmer, isn’t he? I’ll be right back.” As Titus sits down across from me Betty turns around and gives me a thumbs up and a wink. I smile from her reaction as Titus says, “So, I assume you come here often?” I smile and nod, “My dad and I typically come here once a week. It’s our guaranteed daddy-daughter time.” He grins, “That’s nice.” I smile, “I’m close with both of my parents. My mom is super bubbly and is hilarious and is honestly like my best friend. My dad is a bit more reserved. He’s very protective of me, but we have just a special bond that I can’t describe.” Titus nods and says, “My mom and I are very close. Especially after my dad’s death we only had each other. My mom is very eager to meet you.” He chuckles after saying that, but it makes me feel nervous. If they’re so close what if she doesn’t like me? Would that affect him wanting to continue our relationship? He says, “No rush on meeting parents yet. If you want to then I’m happy to, but we can hold off on that for a little longer until we know each other a bit better.” I smile, “That would be nice.” Betty walks back over to us and plays two giant burgers in front of us with a side of mac and cheese and fried okra. She gives us both sodas and then place a giant milkshake with two straws in front of us. I laugh, “Betty, what’s this?” She shrugs, “New milkshake for the lovebirds to try.” She winks as she walks away, and I laugh from her antics and Titus just watches me with a lovestruck expression that makes me feel flustered. I say, “I hope you like the food.” He says, “It’s burgers, I think it’s just fine.” I can’t help but grin as I take a bite… he doesn’t realize that these aren’t normal burgers. My dad and I regularly have contests too see how spicy we can make it by having Betty add jalapenos, extra spicy hot sauce, anything to make it spicy enough for the other person to admit defeat. Then we drink our shake after to cool our mouths, but normally we each had our own not one giant one in the middle. I watch as he takes a bite and then stops mid bite as the heat consumes his mouth. He forces himself to swallow it and says, “Well,” he clears his throat and begins to get flushed, “That’s different.” I ask, “Do you like spicy food?” He takes a big sip of the milkshake and says, “Not like that.” I laugh and watch as Betty walks back towards us and changes his plate and says, “Here’s our normal burger, son, so you don’t have to torture yourself like Cal and her dad do.” I grin in response, Betty hates that my dad and I do this, but I know she loves us and our antics anyway. She walks away and Titus takes a bite of his new burger and says, “This is so much better.” I say, “Yeah, cause there’s no spice! You need spice in life.” He shakes his head with a smirk across his lips and says, “Cali, I think you’re all the spice I need.” I begin to blush, and it just makes him laugh.
