Sixty | Let's Go For A Run

1248 Words
Cal I was so grateful getting up this morning and going to school. Thankfully, they accommodated me being out since they are used to werewolf issues. I found at from Titus that there’s only like 5 humans in the whole school and the staff was entirely made up of wolves, so it made things easier on us. I get into my first class and I’m grateful that Titus now joins me in class, but he has mentioned before that he may stop going to school since it’s not like he needs the degree and that he will focus on our pack. I know a part of him would like me to switch to remote learning or to try and just get my GED and stay by his side at our pack, but I want to finish school. And we haven’t spoken about it, but I would like to go to college. Maybe I can get a degree in something that would help out at the pack. I really need to think on what I would like my major to be. Like would business be better? Or childcare? Psychology? Nursing? Trying to think about my decision is beginning to give me a headache. And apparently I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts that I didn’t notice the bell had rung and Titus is now sitting in front of me with his eyebrows knit together in confusion. He reaches out and strokes my cheek as he asks, “Are you okay, Cali?” My eyes meet his and I smile, “Yeah, I’m great. Just a lot on my mind. Come on, let’s go to our next class.” He nods and takes my hand as we walk towards our next destination. The day goes by quickly and it was really nice getting to be out here, but I’m so excited to head home. I wonder if it’s due to being marked or officially being made Luna, but I am itching to get back home and be around our pack house and do whatever needs to be done there. Once we get back to the pack house Titus looks over at me and he asks, “Are you okay, Cali?” I nod, “Yeah, I’m good. You know what sounds really good?” “What?” He asks as he crosses his eyes and looks me up and down. I smile, “Let’s go on a run.” A smile spreads across his face and I’m sure Kade is ready to get out just as much as Esther is. I walk over to Titus and press my body against his in a suggestive manner making him raise his eyebrows and I smirk as I bring my lips against his ear and I whisper, “Race you to the waterfall.” I turn and run quickly, shifting into my wolf as I take off. I can hear the sound of his paws pounding the ground behind me. I know with him being an Alpha I won’t win, but it’s fun to play anyways. I feel him nudge me and I push my feet to go faster, but I recognize that we’re getting close to the waterfall and Esther howls happily in my head as we get closer to our destination. She tells me: Let me take over. Determination is laced in her voice and I give into her request immediately and I think she took both me and Titus by surprise as she pushed herself furth and I quickly realize her plan. She is going to jump in the water. She’s not slowing down because she wants to beat Titus and because she is just going to hop in. I ask her: Do you think this is a good idea? She doesn’t respond and I can see us getting closer to the water and Titus is still on our heels, but he’s beginning to slow into a stop meanwhile Esther launches us into the air and we soon connect with the water. She turns towards Titus with her tongue hanging out of her mouth and she lets out a playful victorious howl. I hear him mind link me: You’re ridiculous. Esther lets go of the control and I taunt: Are you really not going to join me? I never said that. I just can’t believe you went to such lengths just so you could beat me. I laugh and watch as he begins to step into the water and I comment: Esther was very determined to beat her mate. He laughs as he comes over to me and immediately licks my face. We spend the next half hour just playing in the water. Neither of us daring to shift because it’s late fall now and the water would be freezing. We get out and immediately shake our fur before running back towards the pack house. Once we get there we shift and get clothes from behind the trees, but I know I’m going up to our bedroom and I am going to get a nice hot bath. The second we walk in the house Eric walks over to Titus and has to pull him aside. I see Titus shoot me an apologetic face, but I wave my hand in dismissal. It’s no big deal, this is all part of being the leader of a pack, right? I go up the stairs and head to our room. I walk into the bathroom and turn the water on the hottest it could go and then turn to look at myself in the mirror. There’s a note taped to the mirror and I tilt my head to the side as I grab it. In hasty scribbled writing it says: We know what you are “Luna”. My eyebrows furrow in confusion and I link Titus immediately: Come to our room now. Is everything okay, love? I’m a little busy. Come- now. It’s important. He didn’t respond, but soon was in our room calling my name with worry laced in his voice, “Calliope?” He finds me in the bathroom and I’m standing away from the mirror with my arms crossed as I stare at the note. He notices it and picks it up and after reading it he asks, “What does this mean?” I shrug, “No idea.” He looks around and says, “We need to leave our room. It’s not safe. If you want to bathe go to your parents, my mom’s , Olive, or Britt’s room- I don’t care, but not here- do you understand me?” I nod, “Yes love.” He nods and turns to leave, but I grab his arm and pull him against me tightly and immediately his arms wrap around my back as he soothingly strokes it. I murmur, “Is everything going to be okay?” “Of course it will, I won’t let anything happen to you, Cali.” I nod in understanding and he kisses my head and says, “Come on, let’s go.”
