Twenty-Five | Get Her Parents

1003 Words
Olive It’s like the whole pack house shook when Titus screamed for his mother. She was in the restroom when he yelled for her, so it took a few minutes for her to get herself together in order to go to him. I saw both Eric and Hugh stiffen, and they immediately moved away from me and Britt as they went into action. I look towards Britt with a confused expression as we have no idea what could be causing such a big commotion. It’s been a minute since Luna Amy went up the stairs and we saw the pack doctor run inside and run up the stairs. I say to Britt, “Let’s check it out.” We walk up and into Alpha Titus’ bedroom. Cal is passed out with the doctor hovering over her as he begins to check her blood pressure and do other things. I look over at Titus who has fear in his eyes and he asks, “Doctor, what do you think this could be?” The man sighs, “Alpha, in werewolves this looks like the first shift, but your mother informed me that the girl is human so I’m unsure.” I see Mrs. Amy look at Titus and ask, “Is there any chance she could be a wolf?” I speak up, “I don’t think it’s likely. Britt and I have been friends with her for years and she has showed no signs of being a wolf.” Suddenly an ear-piercing scream fills the room as Cal pops up and screams out before passing out again. The doctor, Mrs. Amy, and Titus all look at one another and the concern is evident on all of their faces. Mrs. Amy looks at me and Britt and she says, “You are close friends to her, right?” We both nod in confirmation and she says, “I want her parents to be here. Please go get them. I’ll make sure we notify patrols of the newcomers.” Britt and I rush out of the pack house and as we leave, we hear Cal’s screams again. I look at Britt with a worried expression and she says, “She’s in the best place she can be. Titus will do anything to keep her safe and so will the pack doctor.” I nod in agreement, but I get in the passenger seat because I feel too shaken up to drive us to her house. I don’t know how we’re going to explain everything to her parents. Britt I get into the driver’s seat and take off towards Cal’s house. Normally Olive would drive because she thinks I drive too fast and reckless, but she is way too shaken up to argue me right now. I pull into her driveway and I look towards Olive who is glued to her seat, her eyes wide, and her skin is paler than normal it’s like she’s a ghost. I huff as I get out and walk towards the door by myself. I knock on the door and wait for someone to answer. Her mom opens the door and smiles at me, but her eyebrows are furrowed in confusion and she says, “Britt, Cal isn’t here. Is there something I can help you with?” “Um yeah, actually Cal-” I lose my train of thought and have to force myself not to growl when I smell the scent of a rogue. Just as soon as it appeared it disappeared, and I watch as Cal’s father walks towards her mom and he looks disheveled. His eyes meet mine and he asks, “What are you doing here?” “Cal needs both of you.” Her dad takes a step forward and asks, “Where is she?” “At Titus’ house. Something’s wrong and we don’t know what it is.” They both get out of their house and get into my car and I drive them towards the packhouse. As soon as we passed the tree line, I noticed her father get tense in the backseat. He and his wife exchange a look and he asks me gruffly, “Is he a wolf?” I park in front of the packhouse and sigh as I turn around to face him and answer, “Yes he is.” “How high ranked?” Her dad looks pissed. I don’t understand what he has against wolves. I’m shocked when I hear Olive’s soft voice as she replies, “He’s the Alpha.” I watch as her dad’s jaw drops slightly and I hear him say quietly, “I can’t go in there.” I watch as her mom looks at her dad with concern and wants to ask questions but doesn’t know where to start. I exhale heavily and say, “I don’t know what your issue is, sir. But Cal needs you two so whatever it is I really think you should move past it and come inside.” Olive adds on, “She wasn’t doing very well when we left. We can only hope she’s doing a little better now.” His lips are pressed tightly together, and he nods slowly. We all get out of the car and I link my arm with Olive’s as we walk towards the entrance and I hear Cal’s mom ask, “Is Cali going to be okay?” We open the door and the second we open it we hear a loud scream and Cal’s mom and her dad pushes past us and runs towards the stairs to find their daughter.
