Cal

I need to find Olive and Britt before they head out for school. I need to talk to them.

I tried really hard not to let Titus know how bad I was freaking out, but when I realized that we never used protection… not even once during our literally days’ worth of s*x.

I rush downstairs and see the girls about to walk out the door and I call out to them to wait.

I can see Olive’s scrunched up face and know that she knows something is wrong meanwhile Britt grins ear-to-ear at me and says, “Well, look who finally made it out of the bedroom.”

I ask, “Can you guy’s stay home today, please?”

They look at each other and then back towards their mates who are waiting for them at the door. They close the door and come by giving each of them a kiss on the cheek as they say, “You girls have fun. We’re going to see what Titus needs us to do to help him out.”

Both of the boys smile as they walk past me and once, they were out of sight Britt begins to walk towards the kitchen as she says, “Okay, we need all the food and we are going to find a comfy place to sit and you are going to spill EVERYTHING!!!!”

She rushes off and Olive touches my arm softly and asks, “Are you okay, Cal?”

I murmur softly not wanting Britt to hear me right now, “We never used protection, Olive, and that means I have a good chance of being pregnant, don’t I?”

She presses her lips together tightly and calls out, “Hey Britt, I’m going to show Cali the theater room, meet us there, okay?”

“Yeah!” She yells back.

Olive grabs my hand and leads me to the theater room and as I sink into a huge recliner I sigh in contentment. This may be my new favorite spot. I watch as she goes through the movies trying to pick one out and I say, “I don’t really want to watch a movie.”

She answers, “I know, this is to provide more noise, so no one hears us. I assume you don’t want anyone to hear us talking?”

I nod in confirmation and she gets the movie set up and sits beside me and says, “Look, it’s not uncommon for wolves not to use protection. Normally the only reason any wolf does is if they aren’t with their mate. Otherwise, we kind of have a view of when the moon goddess blesses us with kids then that is what’s supposed to happen. Just because you were in heat doesn’t mean you’re automatically knocked up.”

Britt walks into the room and seems to sense the seriousness in the room. She sits on the other side of me and says, “Honestly, werewolves have a high fertility that to successfully avoid babies for long term you either have to be fixed, use multiple forms of birth control, or abstain. I take the pill and during times I’m fertile we either abstain or we pull out because Hugh hates condoms.”

Olive laughs, “I think all guys do.”

I look at Olive and ask, “What do you and Eric do?”

“Honestly? We don’t do anything whenever the moon goddess chooses to bless us then that is when we will have a child.”

Britt asks me, “You didn’t use anything?”

I huff, “I mean we talked about not wanting kids, but I’m not on the pill and Titus never used a condom. Should I go get like a plan B? I’m really not ready for any babies anytime soon.”

Olive and Britt both exchange looks and Olive sighs, “You can try, but the rumors that we have heard is that it doesn’t work on wolves.”

I huff and throw my head back and ask, “What if I get pregnant?”

Olive says, “Then that is what the moon goddess had planned for you.”

Britt adds, “And you’d be a terrific mom, Cal.”

I shake my head, “My life is a wreck right now, guys, I don’t want to bring a baby into all of it.”

Olive asks, “What do you mean it’s a wreck?”

I scoff, “My parents aren’t my parents, I don’t know anything about my background, I’m supposed to become Luna of this pack that I know nothing about, and I’m trying to keep my mate happy and do well in school, yet I can’t even attend school right now!” I huff, “I’m just I’m so overwhelmed.”

Britt asks, “Have you talked to Titus about your concerns?”

I shake my head no, “I don’t want to put any of this on him.”

Olive says, “You know, part of having a mate and being a part of a partnership is always having someone with you that you can talk to. Why aren’t you opening yourself up to him?”

Alexander immediately comes into my head.

I feel my mouth go dry at the thought of my past holding me back from my present and I stand up and walk out of the room. Britt yells, “Where are you going?”

“On a run.”

I rush to the front door and upon feeling my bare feet hit the ground and the wind in my hair I immediately shred my clothes as I shift into my wolf and I take off running.

Titus

I sit at my desk and I hear a knock on the door, and I mutter, “Come in.”

I look up to see Eric and Hugh come in. They both sit across from me and Hugh says, “Cal asked the girls to stay home so we thought we would come and see what you need from us.”

I chuckle, “I’m fine guys. Thank you both for keeping things running while she was in heat.”

Eric answers, “That’s our job, Alpha.”

Hugh asks, “Now that the two of you have marked each other, will tomorrow be Cal’s Luna ceremony?”

I smile and nod, “Yeah, I still need to officially talk about it with her, but I think she’s expecting it. My mom is already starting to get things prepped for it. She is so excited for us to officially be Alpha and Luna of this pack.”

We end up talking about some pack related stuff. Nothing that means much, but Eric went over the things that I missed while I was preoccupied with Cali.

Suddenly I feel a mind link and one of the patrol members says, “Alpha, a silver wolf just left our borders it didn’t feel like a pack member though.”

My eyebrows furrow because the only silver wolf is Cali. I try to mind link with her, feeling grateful that we’re marked so I can contact her, “Cali, what are you doing?”

I don’t think she can sense me or if she is then I think she is blocking me out.

I stand up, “I need to go. Eric, you’re in charge while I’m gone.”

Neither of them question me as I run outside and let Kane take over because I knew if I gave him full control, he would be able to find Cali faster.
