Before I could even move an inch, Ellen was sprinting across the woods already and screaming like one who had seen a ghost.
I turned to Justin who was watching on, utterly confused.
"We need to leave now!"
Together, we doused out the fire and sprinted through the woods. We followed a secret pathway I had discovered some time ago, and in a few minutes, we were back at the pack square.
I spun around as I searched for Ellen but she was nowhere to be found. My heart was pounding in my chest as I considered how much damage her stories were going to do to my reputation back at school. If Ellen told everyone that I had been the cause of the small fire in the woods, then I wasn't just going to be seen as a nerd anymore. I was going to be seen as a psycho nerd!
