Anger seared through me like wildfire,consuming every rational thought. I could barely see straight, my fists clenched so tight that my knuckles turned white. The hospital room was still, its muted lights doing little to calm the storm inside me. I had spent hours trying to piece together the events of the day, but all I was left with were more and more questions.
Chris leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, his usual easygoing demeanor replaced with concern.
"Kyle, you need to calm down," he said, his voice steady but tinged with a hint of warning. "You're not going to get anywhere like this."
"Calm down?" I snapped, spinning to face him. "Calm down? Someone tried to kill her, Chris. She was locked in a damn cage. And you're telling me to calm down?"
