"I can't believe I carried him for nine months just for him to come out and fall so much in love with you. I mean, how on earth did that happen?" Freya playfully quizzed as she and Kelly made cookies. They both smiled when she said this and then looked in the direction of Miller, who was busy having a taste of the first set of baked cookies. They chuckled when he took a sip of his freshly squeezed orange juice. Their chuckles drew his attention to them which made him look and smile too.
"For all we know, I was probably his guardian angel all the while he was in there. You don't expect him to act otherwise when he got out and met me." Kelly replied proudly with sarcasm which made Freya stop and look at her for a second.
"Yeah right," She chimed in with a playful scoff. They went back to focusing on the cookies but Freya kept stealing glances at Kelly. At first, Kelly ignored but when it became so frequent, she stopped what she was going and faced her.
"Why the stares? Got anything to tell me?" She asked while Freya looked at her and stopped too.
"I don't know, you tell me, what is going on with you?" Freya asked in a gentle but firm tone. Kelly let out a short scoff and then continued. Her mind wasn't in what she was doing as she was only pretending to be busy. However, Freya wasn't having it, she was determined to get the answer from her.
"Trust me Kelly, you're not baking yourself out of this. The earlier you start talking, the better for both of us cause I won't stop until you spill it all out." Freya insisted while Kelly looked like she had never seen this side of her sister before.
"Yes, you heard me right and I mean each and every word." Freya affirmed strongly.
"William left, there you have it." Kelly said.
"Now, you're trying to use William to as an excuse right?" Freya said with a funny crackle.
"Freya, William broke up with me, he moved out!!!" Kelly let out again while stressing on each word since Freya didn't seem to get the gist the first time.
Freya was short of words, never had she imagined something like that and that was why she didn't get it the first time. Kelly didn't wait for her to reply, she left the kitchen immediately. Miller wanted to go after her but was stopped by his mother.
"Now isn't the time sweetheart." She said as she pulled him back gently.
"What's wrong with Auntie Kelly? Did she hurt herself?" Miller asked in his usual innocent tone. Freya hugged him and assured him everything was fine, after which she then asked him to go continue with his movie in the living room. He was watching an animation movie before he joined them in the kitchen.
Miller left smiling with a tray full of cookies and juice. Immediately he left, Freya dragged the last set of cookies from the oven despite not being fully done. She would come back to it, right now, her sister needs her...
"When did this happen?" Freya asked as she laid beside Kelly who was curled up in bed.
"You know it still feels like a dream. Every time I think about it, I can't help but think it would soon end and I would wake up to him beside me. I almost got fired from work this morning." Kelly dropped another bomb on her sister. Freya's eyes got so big instantly, it was as if she had just gotten the biggest shock of her life. She was still trying to wrap her head around the first one and now this?
"Cause of William?" Freya quizzed while Kelly gave an affirmative nod.
"How did this happen? Honestly, I'm finding it really difficult to understand all that you said. It's been a month since I last saw William but we talk often. Just a week ago, he sent me a throwback video of Miller. It was one where Miller was being his funny self. He said he saw the video when he was going through his phone and then sent it to me. We laughed it off and talked about a few other things before ending the call. You guys seem so good together so what could have possibly made him up and leave out of the blues?" Freya aired with so much detail.
"Are you sure this isn't a prank?" She asked while still trying to figure out an explanation for his odd behavior.
Kelly wasn't exactly surprised when Freya suggested it was a prank. Anyone who knows how in love she and William was would also think the same. Up till the last minute when he broke up with her at the party, he was still being sweet, loving and caring. He was in love with her and never failed to show it. He was always so obvious such that even a total stranger would know in five minutes of being around them. So, its not unreasonable to think this was all a prank.
"Would he pack all his things if it was just a prank? He didn't leave behind a single pin. He moved everything. Every last piece of anything he bought. He didn't care if I still need it or not, once he was the who got it, he took it along." Kelly explained while Freya just laid there in silence and listened. When Kelly was done, Freya slowly got up and went into the closet. Even though, Kelly's things took up most of the space in there, it was glaring that it had a bit of emptiness to it. Freya took a quick tour around and Kelly was right, he really didn't leave anything behind.
"But why? Did he say why?" Freya asked from the closet door where she was standing.
Kelly sat up and explained how William initially told her at the party that he needs time to think some things through. But then, she got home after the party and found the note he left behind where he made it known that his eyes were now open and he wants nothing to do with her. Before she went back to her curled up position, Kelly pointed Freya to her purse which was on the dressing table and asked her to get the note from in there. Freya did. She took a seat at the table while she read through its content.
