At exactly 10:30pm my phone buzzed and it was Ava. She sent me a voice note explaining she was at the estate and asked for directions. I had just woken up from another nap. I beckoned to Tara, who was busy gulping down popcorn about the situation, and she was able to clear her. In no time, the doorbell rang and it was Ava. "I thought you lost your way." I teased her as I led her in. We were just workmates and hadn't visited each other before. "Birthday girl" She screamed in excitement as she hugged me tightly. She was a bit shorter and I only felt the hug around her stomach. "Hey shortie, easy so you don't burst my stomach" I said trying not to let laughter choke me. "Okay," She scoffed. "Coming from a freshly single lady who's back on the street and searching." We all laughed. "But seriously, he did that?" She asked after the laughter faded. Her eyes filled with so much concern. I nodded slightly, she hugged me and soon Tara joined and it was a big fat hug. We sat on the fluffy couch and chatted for a while as Tara helped me with my makeup and hairdo while we talked, and I looked all glamorous. "Uhmm... sexyyyy." Tara complimented me and we laughed. "Let's get the party started." I glared and we all screamed in excitement. Before we could finish the yapping and all it was already past 11pm. We hurriedly climbed into Tara's car as she drove us along the busy streets of Las Vegas with a loud song, and we happily sang along in the car. At this point, I was beginning to feel more like myself and I loved this feeling. It was a long drive down the street because of traffic, and it was a Friday. We finally arrived at the Grams and the entire place was crowded, we couldn't get in, the bouncers looked angry and ready to fling people off. Ava placed a call across, since she works there she knows someone who could let us in. After standing for a while one of the bouncers asked us to go in, Tara thanked him, and all three of us got in. Giggling like kids who got free candies from the grocery store. This place was not a joke, the music was loud enough to make my ears ring but I liked it, noisy party goers, a lot of smoking and drinking, strippers dancing, I like it. We sat at a corner while Ava went to get us some drinks. I had never been to a club before but this one was intriguing. A few minutes later Ava returned with a bottle of alcohol and three glasses. "Happy birthday Amelia." She said as she sat down smiling. "Happy birthday wonder girl," Tara echoed and they both pecked me softly on both cheeks. "Thank you," I said blushing. We sat down and started talking, about work, then Ava suggested we step out and dance which I happily agreed to. We were at a corner moving our bodies slightly to the rhythm of the loud music when I felt someone hold me on my waist from behind and kiss my shoulder before I could even turn properly. "Hi, Damsel." Said the stranger as he screamed so I could hear him. The music was deafening. He was darkskinned and slightly taller than Ava, he had his sunglasses on and I wondered why, I couldn't see his face properly but he was so sweaty from having danced too much and reeked of alcohol. "How may I help you?" I asked still dancing slightly as I glanced at him a bit trying to hide my irritation and not sound rude. "You look gorgeous, mind if we go to the dance floor and steal the show tonight?" I chuckled, "No thank you, I'm with my friends." I said trying to wave him off. He fumed. "A kiss?" He asked. My face immediately went sour completly, I looked at him in so much disgust, and he noticed the irritation. "Do you know me?" He smirked. "No, and I don't want to," I said firmly. This infuriated him even more, he forcefully held my arm and dragged me along with him. Ava and Tara tried to go after us, but his men restrained them from doing anything, they could only watch us. Everyone around looked at us in surprise as I struggled to break from his firm grip. It was already creating a scene, and I felt embarrassed. He swayed me around by my hair trying to make fun of me, I fell, some people found it funny and started laughing, or were they drunk? Just then the main entrance flew open, like the bouncers at the door deliberately made way for whoever it was that stood at that doorway. A tall man in a red suit stood there staring down at us, maybe the commotion drew his attention. His eyes caught mine, and conversations died one after another. Even the bar tenders paused. The crowd instinctively parted as the man in the red suit strode inside. "Leave her alone you coward." He commanded, his voice thundering which so much authority. The man who held me immediately let go of me and disappeared into the crowd with his men. My chest was already pounding as I kept looking at him, all eyes were on us. He walked closer to me. "Are you okay?" He asked, offering me his hand before lifting me to my feet. "Yeah, thank you," I muttered. Feeling embarrassed. He noticed and smiled. His teeth were as white as snow. He removed his suit and gave it to one of his guards standing beside him. Now, I can see his brown long-sleeve shirt, neatly sewn, it fit fine on him. He's cute, I thought to myself. "Care for a drink?" He asked politely. I nodded nervously, a few minutes ago I was almost embarrassed, now I'm nodding to a stranger. He gave me his hand, and we walked to the private bar section. I was here for fun anyway, as long as no one forced me into anything. I turned around and saw Tara and Ava looking in our direction in shock, seems they were beckoning to me to come back to them but I ignored them and only waved at them. Ava gasped, turned to Tara as they lost sight of me, and said "That is Lorenzo, the cold-blooded Mafia boss of Crimson Cartel." They both jolted.
