The day went by in a whim, and it wasn’t until the closing period that realization finally dawned on me.
“Bess, what do you plan on doing?” Evie’s voice rang beside me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“No idea,” I replied, looking around at our now-empty classroom.
“The project carries a lot of marks, and you can’t afford to miss it for any reason.”
“I know, right?” I said with a tight-lipped smile.
“Where do you and your partner plan to meet for the project?”
“Well, Arianna lives a few blocks away from my home, and she’s got a well-furnished study room. So, the plan is to meet there every day after school for the next week.”
“Starting today?”
“Sure.” I nodded.
