“Follow your path. Not others.” --- ~ Elizabeth ~ My heart leapt wildly in my chest the moment I saw Patrick walking toward us. What was he doing here? Of all places, of all people… Why now? His gaze met mine, and something shifted. It was subtle—but I saw it. The sharpness I was used to in his eyes melted away into something… softer. Gentler. Was I imagining it? “Mel, Beth… this is Patrick Diego,” Luke said, gesturing toward him, “one of my students.” Student? My brows furrowed as I turned my gaze from Patrick to Luke and back again. “Your student?” I asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief. “Yes, Elizabeth… I am,” Patrick said. He spoke. That threw me off. And apparently, it caught both Luke and Mom off guard, too. I could see the slight flicker of surprise in their expressions.
