Prologue

Aled noticed a very little change of expression on her face but he felt strange about himself. He couldn't understand why he was even paying attention to read the facial expression of a 'to-be' employee in an interview session. She is just going to be an ordinary employee who I'll boss around, he thought. "Is there anything you'd like to tell us, Miss Jessie?" Aled asked, trying to keep a tone of demand which turned into a 'super-curious' one and sounded very strange to himself and surely to everyone else in the room. He suddenly noticed that he is getting nervous, somehow. Somehow, somewhere inside him, there was an odd feeling. The one someone feels when they are around their crushes. His palms started sweating. "There is, Sir, if I may, It's Jazie", she replied with a benign smile and her confidence shone brightly and yet it couldn't overshine her natural humbleness of being. Her voice was neither bold nor trembling, peculiar balance of tone it had. "Jazie, like the Jasmine?", Aled asked, trying hard not to express too much curiosity in his eyes. "If you please, yes", once again that smile, there was a definite humbleness mixed with a perfect amount of firmness, it just couldn't go unnoticed. The interviewers exchanged stares among each other and the question they silently asked was obvious, "Who is this young woman making such a big deal out of her name and the accuracy of pronunciation on the very interview day?" Aled exchanged some stares too with his fellow people but he caught Jassie observing them. For a moment, he even felt like she smiled looking at them in a "poor souls" manner. Aled felt alarmed in some way he couldn't explain to himself. Is there anything wrong with me or this person? Aled thought. Is it only me or Dave and Mary and Bob and Will and Katy all are feeling the same? Why I am having such an unnatural experience just looking at this stranger? Is it one of those "energy" things that those books talk about?  "Well, Miss Jazie, we are quite satisfied with your work experiences and qualifications mentioned in your papers, I believe my fellow people will all agree?" Katy, the eldest lady in the room broke the eerie silence and turned her head to the others. "Yes, sure, and also with this remarkable interview", Bob Liam joined her. "You will be working for us from tomorrow", said Aled and Dave in unison, and they both felt embarrassed for sounding like nursery kids singing the rhymes in the classroom. Aled felt like he just made the biggest fool of himself in his whole life. Why couldn't he said it one second later or earlier or just stay silent? What's the urge to tell Miss Jassie to join from tomorrow? "So, we'll see you tomorrow, Miss Jassie, all the best!" Aled cleared his throat and tried to sound professional. Jassie thanked, looked at everyone and it seemed like she took a millisecond longer to look at Aled than the others. Her smile looked different now, something changed all about her. She almost bowed like the ancient times and walked away towards the door. Before opening the door, it seemed like she stood still for another millisecond and looked down at the floor. Like she had another thought in her mind and she will turn around and share it with the people in this room. But then she opened the door and went out of sight.  "Phew!" all said in unison. They all felt like something heavy possessed them for the last thirty-three minutes. "There is..", started Mary, "Something about her", finished Katy. Yes, there is, there definitely is. Thought Aled.
