Prologue

I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my white dress. A laced, long sleeved a-line dress that touched the floor. My veil was already on my curled, pinned hair. I sighed sadly as I didn't feel ready for today. This was supposedly my big day but it didn't feel like my big day. It felt more of my parents' big day since they planned most of everything.  "Oh, Tessa. You look beautiful!" I saw my mother standing behind me from the mirror. I turned to face her. "Does this look have your approval mother?" I asked her.  "It certainly does," she said. I turned back to the mirror before looking down. "What is it, Tessa?" my mother asked me. "This isn't my day," I tell her. "What are you talking about, Tessa?"  "This isn't my wedding day. This is all your planning. I don't even want this kind of dress," I tell her before stepping down from the platform.  "Tessa, you know we're only doing this for your own good," my mother tells me. "Is it? I don't even love him," I tell her. "Tessa! This whole wedding is for you to be ensured a good future," she reminds me. "A good future? You don't believe I can make it out there by myself without any help from you guys?" I questioned her. My mother stood quiet making me nod at her.  "Unbelievable," I threw my hands in the air.  "We're ready when you are, Tessa," I heard.  "Tessa, I'm sorry," my mother said. "Sorry about what mother?" I asked her. "About everything," she told me. "I think it's a little too late for that," I tell her before walking out.  I waited for everyone to be settled in before they allowed me to walk down the aisle. My father walked over to stand next to me. "Did you think that I can survive the world without the help of you and mom?" I asked him. "I think you could have," my dad told me.  Once the doors opened, the music started. Everyone stood up to watched me walk down the aisle with my father. We walked to the end where I saw my future husband, Bradley Bain, standing there.  Bradley Bain. One of the biggest billionaires in the world. My family and his were close friends and were forcing us to marry against our wills. My mother didn't think I could make it in the world without someone and his family wanted him to stop being a playboy.  Once we got to the end of the aisle, my father kissed my cheek before walking back to his seat in the front. I looked over at Bradley who smiled softly at me. I smiled back before looking back at the priest.  Everything felt like a blur. I felt like I was under some control to say everything that were coming out from my mouth. I stood there feeling controlled until the priest said: "I may now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Bradley leaned in and so did I. My first kiss with Bradley would be on our wedding day. How sad. Bradley softly kissed me before pulling away. We turned around to face our family and friends who clapped for us.  From now, I was known to be Tessa Bain. The wife of billionaire, Bradley Bain.
