THE VISITOR

2835 Words
Around the same time, Snow White interestingly again, made another look into the tramp's profile that was pinned on his mission gallery board. The deranged tramp whose real name was Macario Olay is a recorded social deviant and repeated law offender in his province of Surigao del Sur (a province in the Caraga Region in Mindanao, Philippines). This sociopathic scruffy-looking man whose criminal exploits includes; Murder for hire, s****l battery and Assault, Robbery, Extortion, and Serious physical injuries was among in the long list of his criminal offenses. But the most dangerous information that Snow White was interested all about him was that fact that Macario is from a long line of Sigbin kings that made him to effectively evade the clutches of the law and especially a very dangerous Aswang to deal with. The paper also states that Macario, coming from a Sigbin royal line inherited some sort of magical ability that only his family line can have, and that is mastery of any form of dark arts. In the case of Macario, he is a certified witch doctor who can control flies at his own will, which is under the dark art course of Barang. “A Barang is a type of dark arts that involves the invocation of a special ritual or prayer to summon an entity to lead any types of insects in attacking its victims. Similar to hexing, a Mambabarang or the witch doctor/sorcerer that performs the ritual must secure the victim's whole name and hair fibers to aid his summoned evil spirits to accurately pinpoint its target wherever he might be." All of a sudden, Snow White then strips off another profile from the white folder file and pins it beside Macario's. This time its Macario's younger brother, Gerardo Olay who is also a repeated law offender like his brother. Gerardo is also a celebrated Sigbin royal which gives him an edge in avoiding capture, and like his brother, also had the ability to manipulate flies at will. The very next morning at school, Mr. Deakin gave a lengthy talk to all of the students at the school auditorium about Krizelle Legaspi's sudden death which made the atmosphere inside, tragic and full of grief. As Jay-sensei bowed his head, covering his teary eyes and his advisory class wailing, Mr. Deakin encourages all of the students to focus mainly onto their studies and use this incident to give it all what it takes to reach their dream, which is to have a better future working in Japan. Mr. Deakin also warned the students that if anyone was caught spreading rumors that Krizelle is killed by an Aswang will be dealt with him personally because he doesn’t want to impede the ongoing investigation surrounding Krizelle's murder case and especially putting their studies and training in jeopardy, which all students agreed. Mr. Deakin closed the meeting by telling them good news that Jake was eliminated from the list of suspects and that he, together with Bea and Norma can return to class tomorrow since the three had to rest to regain their energy after eleven hours of grilling by the authorities. As Mr. Deakin dismissed all of them to get back to their classes, the two other roommates of Krizelle, Norma, and Bea was asked to see him at his office. As the two knocked and was allowed to enter Mr. Deakin's office, they were asked to sit down at the receiving area in front of his office and talked, “Sir. We got a lengthy talk with the others and we wanted to move out of our dormitory. If it's okay." begins one of the girls. “Sure. If you could find a good place to stay, please inform your teacher Jay-sensei about it so that we can relay it to your benefactors since they are the ones who pay for your tuition and accommodation here. Okay girls?" replied Mr. Deakin with a somewhat dry smile. "Definitely sir." nodded the two as they got up and excused themselves to go back to their classroom. But as the two opened the door, Mr. Deakin suddenly interjects, “And by the way, invite all of your classmates if you already found one. Make sure to tell all of your plans to Jay-sensei. Okay?" then the two girls nodded as the door closes. Meanwhile at Rose-sensei's class (Batch 11), Rose-sensei begins the lesson by introducing her replacement Yuri who at that time will be doing sub-teacher role to familiarize herself with all of the students that she is going to handle soon. As the new teacher arrived and introduced herself, the whole class which comprises mainly of seventeen girls and three only boys are very pleased and at the same time nervous for the new Japanese teacher, except for JC Santos who is obviously daydreaming as his expressionless face was fixated upon the view in the window at his right. As the others rattles in fear as they introduced themselves in Japanese for their daily Japanese conversation practice and also for Rose-sensei to break the barrier between the class and Yuri, JC is quietly fully absorbed to the beautiful blue sky that adorns the window beside him. Then Rose-sensei repeatedly calls JC's name for his turn to do his Japanese introduction. At first he doesn't seem to hear Rose-sensei's voice as he was too busy appreciating the immense beauty offered by the outside world but when Rose-sensei impatiently shouts JC’s name for the third time, the young man almost had a heart attack because of his sudden re-attachment to reality which made his classmates filled with laughter while Yuri chuckles at the back. Because of this, Rose-sensei punished JC for his lack of focus by repeating his introduction from the beginning and she also made JC to draw a random Kanji character using his butt in front of the class to make sure his mind stays alert in the whole session. As JC struggles to shake his booty while doing some Kanji character that Rose-sensei picked for him, JC again successfully sends his classmates to shouts of laughter as they witness a man who dances like a robot whose joints are very stiff and dry. He also doesn't mind his classmates teasing him, calling him names like "Autty"(Short for Autistic) which Yuri finds a bit unsettling (even though she doesn't understand the meaning of the name but felt it) since she felt sad for JC, but as she sees him not bothered by the insults at all and was reminded of the poem he wrote, Yuri felt quite relieved. After Rose-sensei finished discussing the today's topic about verb's BA-form (In Japanese the verb in "Ba-form" is a form in verb-stem that is provisional in nature), she immediately asks Yuri to call on students randomly to know exactly if they can follow through the lesson and is also part of their everyday routine. While his classmates attentively participates in the after lesson activity which made the others cram and cringe, JC again withdraws himself to his own world, a comforting world of verse writing which he pours out actively on his poem filled notebook. When Yuri noticed that JC is not actively participating into the class and doing something else, she immediately sneaked into JC's back and grabbed his notebook that made him a bit annoyed and put on a sharp stare to her, “What? Santos-san? I think you know everything that's why you had this, instead of listening with your classmates. Right?" snapped Yuri as she was a bit disappointed to him. Then Rose-sensei, who also got mad at JC's uncooperative attitude looses out to the class by saying, “HEY GUYS!!! IF YOU WANT SOMETHING ELSE? THEN THIS CLASS ISN'T FOR YOU!!!! My class is only for serious learners who wanted to work in Japan not for dreamers who wanted something else. RESPECT PLEASE!!! Have some respect to yourself and us teachers." she then directed her eyes unto J.C., who is by now stoically silent as he bowed his head and added, “Right? Santos-san?” At lunch break, Rose-sensei together with Yuri and some of her students dined at a canteen which is a street away from the school. The place was a bit old but pristine which is offered by Rose-sensei since Yuri wanted to eat authentic Filipino dishes. She also added that, this place is very famous for their Kare-Kare (a Philippine version of India's Khari stew dish. Instead of using Masala, the Philippine version uses ground nuts, adding flavor to the sauce) which Yuri decided to try since she also loves curry. As the helper laid out their big pot of Kare-Kare at the middle of the table, Yuri asked, “Rose-sensei. Where is Santos-san?" "He's always like that Shimabukuro-sensei. You see he had his own world." replied Rose-sensei as she digs in into the Kare-Kare stew and puts in onto Yuri’s plate, she then scoops a big chunk of oxtripe with vegetables into Yuri's plate and asked her if she wants more, but Yuri declined and told her that the serving is already enough, thanking her afterwards. As the whole gang of Rose-sensei enjoys their sumptuous lunch, Jay-sensei suddenly enters the canteen and immediately spots the new teacher, dinning with them, " Hello there Shimabukuro-sensei. You must be the new teacher I suppose. We already saw each other a couple of times but I never properly introduced myself. My Name is James Dela Torre, teacher of Batch 8. It's a pleasure." begins Jay-sensei as he bows and reaches his hand to Yuri, in which Yuri gladly responded. But as Jay-sensei holds Yuri's irresistibly soft hand, Jay-sensei fixed his eyes unto hers and gave her a very naughty smile which caused Yuri to feel uneasy and instantly moves her hand out from Jay-sensei's grasp without a hint of being disrespectful. Jay-sensei then ordered his lunch from the counter and lets himself to join their table that made Rose-sensei and the others felt slightly agitated. As Jay-sensei helps himself with his lunch, he stared curiously to everyone, giving special attention to Yuri which is sitting opposite his chair. His leer upon her is like a tiger that greedily hides from the bushes, ready to lunge the beautiful doe relaxing in the marshes. Because of this awkward situation which made Yuri felt very irritable, she made a sudden excuse to everyone that, she is going back to the faculty room to check up on something, which psychologically perceived by Rose-sensei by nodding back, telling that she will also join her there soon. She then finally walks out of the head teacher's malicious stare which gave her a sigh of relieve as she walks down the street. As Yuri enters the empty faculty room and sat on her desk, she reaches for JC’s poetic notebook at the corner of the table and curiously flips its plain but dramatic contents. As she sifts through the inner feelings of JC’s writings, she suddenly remembers the odd Sunday evening in which the hooded man saved her from the flying monster's grip. As far as she remembers, she became curious about the warm sensation that she felt coming out of the vigilante's hand which renders her unconscious and wakes up the very next morning in a hospital bed. At that moment, Yuri is a bit preoccupied, still grasping whether the incident really happened or not, and the identity of the enigmatic man who saved her, and also his mysterious ability of shooting some kind of energy from his palm to knock someone down. All of these questions flooded Yuri's mind over and over again. Meanwhile, as Yuri continues to splurge herself to the magnificent writings of the peculiar but wunderkind student JC, she suddenly saw him in a blink of an eye walking past through the small glass pane of the wooden door panel and quickly rushes through him, calling his name. As the passive young man slowly walks towards the stairs clutching his bag at his back ignoring Yuri's call, she suddenly increased the tone of her voice saying his name once more, which made the ever immersed JC to snap out of his self-induced hypnosis and turns his head to Yuri's direction. When Yuri successfully caught JC's attention, she quickly moves towards him and shoves his poem-filled notebook into his chest, “Focus on your studies first or else this talent of yours will be put to waste." told Yuri as she gleefully hands out his most valuable article. JC in an awful disbelief serenely accepts his notebook back and reciprocated her with a dry smile and in a low voice thanked her and leaves. As he walks away, Yuri once more called him and said, "You're a great writer. And I know that." she smiled as JC thanked her again while ascending the steep staircase. Meanwhile as the today’s lesson ends and all of the students were dismissed by their respective teachers, Yuri visits his new found friend, Mr. Yasuhiro Yamamoto, a sixty plus year old speech laboratory instructor of MILS and the current advisor to the school's choir club to his speech room and the two discussed their previous topic which is all about music and piano since the two were keen music aficionados. The two have just met earlier in the morning when Yuri happened to overhear Yamamoto-sensei playing of an Antonio Vivaldi piece in the Speech laboratory's very own grand piano which is part of his morning routine and also to make adjustments to the piano itself. As the two became comfortable with each other, (Yuri reminds Yamamoto-sensei of her own father back in Okinawa, which like him is a band member back in his day) Yuri asks Yamamoto-sensei what became of his family. As the talk became more and more personal, Yamamoto-sensei told Yuri that his wife died two years ago because of esopharyngeal cancer. However as he and his family established most of their life here in the Philippines, his two sons found love in this beautiful country, eventually married then settled down. Around the same time, Jay-sensei locked himself inside his office (as head teacher of MILS, they provided him his own office) with lights off and the only illumination available is coming out from his own desktop computer monitor. As he huddled in his newly washed gray hooded jacket (the same jacket he picked up from a makeshift trash bin a couple of meters from his apartment) because of the extreme cold that comes from his air conditioner, he became hooked by the steamy hot moves that the sexy couple performs in the video he is watching which made his heart pound faster and his forehead perspire. He then eventually gave himself the strong urge to release that innermost combustion that will explode at any time. As he finished off his forbidden session in a piece of tissue which he discards in a trash bin beside him, a swarm of flies enters the dark chamber through the open air duct above him. When he saw this incredible but fearsome spectacle, he leaps out of his chair in a state of shock. As more and more flies are entering then clustering in front of him, it becomes clearer to him that a more frightening, and more sinister will arise so soon. For the thing in front of him was none other than, Macario the tramp, in his Sigbin form which comprises of a huddled back, a pair of red-shot cat's eyes which is set in a goat-like face, long arms with a pair of sharp nails like talons, powerful hind legs, and a drab-colored fur that covers his entire body. With this formidable, fearsome appearance, Jay-sensei almost did not put up his pants properly as he got out of his office shouting and whining in fear for his life. As Jay-sensei runs at the corridor with his desperate cries for help, Macario chased Jay-sensei and slashes his hamstring with his razor sharp claws. As Macario raised his claws to the bleeding head teacher he snarled, “YA BASTARD DOG!! At long last. The famous Snow White is within my grasp now. How enticing it is to rip you apart." “What are you talking about? Snow White? Who's Snow White?" answered Jay-sensei as he winced in pain because of his gashed leg. “You killed my brother. YOUR F@#%&!G HOODIE TELLS!! I can smell his blood on you. So don't try to hide it. SNOW WHITE!" growled Macario, as he grinds his teeth, desperately wanting to end the man’s worthless life. As Jay-sensei lies vulnerable, bleeding to death, Macario on the other hand telepathically commands his vast army of flies to commence the beastly attack. When the swarm of these deadly flies begins to engulf the poor teacher his only last words was his horrible scream which echoed in the whole premises.
