Chapter 2:Special power

1100 Words
It had been a month since Kyo met Kane. Under the guidance of that man, he had mastered the skills needed to assassinate others. As promised, Kane had provided him with a house and food every day. “Kyo, come here.” The man spoke in a deep voice. As Kyo approached, his face became more serious. “The organization has chosen your first mission, are you ready?” “Of course, always ready.” He spoke with great confidence. In the country Kyo lived in, there were many different assassin organizations, each with their own rules. His organization was called the ‘Shadow Assassination Society’. In this organization, the supreme leaders would receive missions from customers and then select a suitable assassin and ask that person’s manager to assign them to carry out the mission. However, if the chosen person does not want to do it, the organization will choose another person without punishing that person. However, the case of refusing the mission has never happened because in the organization there is a ranking, when the mission is completed successfully, that person will receive points to improve the ranking. The higher the ranking, the more generous the salary that person will receive. [That night] Kyo was standing on the roof of a tall building to do a mission. Standing on the roof of a tall building, he felt the endless open space around him. The wind blew hard, cold, and carried small sounds from below, mixed with the distant noise of the city. Looking down, the streets seemed to shrink, the traffic became slow-moving points of light, blending into the flow of light from the street lamps and sparkling billboards. In the distance, other buildings rose high, electric lights shining in every window like small stars hanging in the middle of the city. The sky above was dark, dotted with only a few faint stars, dimmed by the city lights. The target of the mission was Kurogane. He was apparently a kind politician who always adopted orphans. However, he secretly sold those children for money and told the public that they had been adopted. [A moment later] Kurogane began to enter his hotel. Kyo had anticipated this and was waiting on the roof of the hotel. That man had a strange hobby of being in the highest place in the hotel. Thanks to that, he easily planned the assassination. When he saw Kurogane enter the room, Kyo jumped from the roof to the balcony of that house. “Who are you?” The man said in a panic. His bodyguards heard the sound and entered the room. They pointed their guns at Kyo. He had been prepared for this situation, Kyo threw a smoke bomb that filled the room. Taking advantage of that, he took out a knife and lightly slashed Kurogane’s neck. The man fell down and stopped breathing immediately. After hearing the sound of Kurogane collapsing, the bodyguards fired continuously even though they couldn’t see anything. “At this rate, I’ll definitely get shot, is there no other way but to limit the number of shots as much as possible? I wish I could feel all the bullets as they come near me”. Kyo whispered, low enough that they wouldn’t hear. Surprisingly, as the bullets approached, he suddenly felt them and dodged them easily. “What’s going on? Could it be ...” A hypothesis suddenly popped into his head. Kyo jumped down from the sky and wished he could fly. He then realized that he could fly freely in the sky. Why would Kyo do something so reckless? It was simple, he had brought a spare parachute and if his idea failed, Kyo could use it. [After returning] “Good job Kyo, you completed the mission very quickly. I have left your reward on the table. The organization is very satisfied with you.” When Kyo returned, he saw Kane waiting for him at home. “Thank you.” He took his reward and was about to return to his room. “Wait.” Kane’s words stopped him. “I forgot to tell you that the organization has given you a nickname. You are now ‘K’, this name represents the neatness in your actions, how do you like it?” “I don’t care much.” Kyo said and returned to his room [When he returned to his room] “Do I have superpowers?” Kyo muttered to himself as he lay on his bed. He decided to sleep and wake up to verify it the next morning. [The next morning] Kyo woke up from his bed. He looked out the window. Through the window, everything looked like it was covered in a layer of mist, making the scenery even more magical. The sparkling dew drops still lingered on the leaves, reflecting the sparkling light like small gems. The birds began to chirp, bringing a peaceful, fresh feeling of a new day. The air was fresh, cool, and carried a faint scent of flowers from the garden below. He cleaned himself up and then went downstairs to try it out. Kyo thought that he wanted to be able to jump onto the roof of the three-story house he was living in. After he tried jumping, he was able to fly up there. However, the skin on his feet began to crack, and blood flowed from there. “So I can’t use too much power because my body won’t be able to handle it.” Kyo came to a conclusion after seeing what happened. Next, he thought that he wanted to fly and control fire at the same time. After that, Kyo didn’t have any power. Next, he thought that he wanted to fly and after he could fly, he continued to think that he wanted to control fire. Kyo was able to control fire but lost his ability to fly. From there, he concluded that he couldn’t use two powers at the same time. After experimenting all morning, Kyo realized that there were only two limitations to his power. In this world, there were also some special people with superpowers. However, using multiple powers like Kyo was definitely impossible. He knew that too. “Should I let the organization know about this?” After thinking about it for a while, he decided to let the organization know. If the organization found out that Kyo was hiding a secret from them, there was a high chance that they would eliminate him at all costs. Realizing this, Kyo decided to reveal his unreasonably powerful ability.
