Epilogue
JuneI’d imagined the facility to look like a hospital: bland, sterile and depressing. Instead, I felt welcome the instant we stepped through the front gate. The facility was housed within a medieval castle – had there been any Middle Ages in Albya? – but while the stone walls were old and weathered, inside it was a different matter. Everything was warm and colourful. It felt more like a home than a hospital.
A porter at the gate greeted Eron with a wide smile. “I haven’t seen you for a while, Eron. But I can see now why you haven’t visited.” He held out all four hands to me, looking very proud. “I’ve heard that Peritans greet this way.”
I suppressed a laugh and shook one of his hands. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
