I woke up to babbling noises, so I stretched over to the bedside table to grab the baby monitor to see Trixie up and playing in her crib while babbling away to herself. I smiled at her antics and got out of bed checking the time to see it was eight in the morning. Brooke will already be gone by now as she has to be at work for exact eight.
I walked in to Trixie's room and over to her crib to get her out. As soon as she spot me she quickly got up and started clapping her hands and stretching for me to take out. I picked her up out of her crib while showering her face with kisses causing hee to giggle and squirm.
"Good morning princess." "How did you sleep. Did you have good dreams." I asked her while walking over to the changing table to get her into a clean diaper. "Yes mama." she answered. " You did that's good." I cooed at her and she smiled up at me. I layed her down and change her diaper. "There all clean." I said after putting her in a fresh one. " Lets get you some breakfast are you hungry." I ask kissing her cheek as I lift her walking out of her room.
I collected my phone from my room before making my way down to the kitchen texting Brooke to thank her for last night even though she always tells me not to thank her I still always do, she has done so much to help me without complaint. She is incredible and an amazing best friend I couldn't have ask for anyone else.
She texted back complaining about how many times have she told me to not thank her and I just laughed softly about her text. Yeah did I say she don't complain, about that she only does it when I thank her ha! ha!.. She is weird I know but I love her just as she is.
In the kitchen I set Trixie down in her high chair strapping her in and then got started on her breakfast, which isn't much since she still can't eat much stuff as yet so breakfast for her usually consists of a bowl of oatmeal, mashed fruits mainly banana or strawberry as those two are her favourites and a bottle of milk and from time to time I gave her a bit of scrambled eggs or a bit if toast to nibble on. She is only one well almost two so she doesn't really eat or requires much to eat.
Finishing up her breakfast I sat down to feed her and myself after she was finished. While I ate I sat her down in the living room to let her play with her toys so I can eat while watching her. I then proceeded to cleaning up our dishes from breakfast and cleaning up the kitchen a bit. It is Saturday and I have the weekend off so I usually clean on Saturdays and do the groceries, while on Sundays I do the laundry.
Speaking of groceries I better get to it don't want to miss out on all the good stuff at the farmers market. I do shop at the grocery store but I like getting my fresh produce at the farmers market, so shopping for groceries I always have to make two different stops but it's worth it.
After cleaning the dishes and mopping the floor I snuck another peek at Trixie to make sure she is where I left her and she is so I went onto checking the cupboards and fridge to see what I need to buy and making a list. Finishing that list I realize that we are seriously in need of groceries but I won't be able to get everything today as I don't have enough money left over after putting aside some for the bills. I sighed quietly and murmured " it will have to do; I'll just get the main stuffs and pick up the others during the week when I make some tips."
Placing the list on the table I went over and got Trixie up off of the floor. "Guess what time it is?" I said in a sing song voice. She smiles already having an idea as this is her normal routine on mornings, breakfast then bath and whatever else we decide to do during the day.
"It's bath time." I told her walking up the stairs. "Bows! Bows!" she clapped saying in her baby voice as she can't quite pronounce certain letters properly as yet. "That's right bubbles it's bubbles time." she shrieked getting even more excited while I just smile and kiss her cheek. I love seeing her being all happy and excited, her smiles and giggles always melts my heart and is my main motivation to continue to strive harder just so I can keep that smile on her face. Gosh I love her!
Going in the bathroom I plugged the tub and turn on the tap leaving it to full up while grabbing her body wash from the cupboard pouring some in the water to create bubbles. I then undress her placing her in the tub while turning off the tap as it was full enough for her. I let her splash around a bit before taking over and washing her properly with a wash cloth and washing her hair as well. After bath time we went back to her room where I picked out an outfit for the day, dried her up and got her dressed and ready now it was my turn to do the same so I took her back to my room and set her on the floor with some toys and my phone playing a video to help keep her occupied while I shower and got dressed for the day. With all that being done she was still where I left her watching the video so I picked her up got my purse and went back to her room to pack her a diaper bag. Packed and ready we set out to go not before grabbing the list from the table and my keys from the hook at the door.
Unlocking my car I strapped Trixie in her car seat then got in and we were off to the farmers market. Getting out of my car at the market I notice there wasn't much people which was good as I can't stand the rush especially while having to balance Trixie and the produce, but it was also bad as it means I have missed out on all the good stuff. Not pondering to much about missed chances I went to the trunk to fetch my bag that I always keep there for when I come here then I went and got Trixie out and we headed over to see all that we can get based on the list of things I wrote down. Checking out the different stalls I realize that there was still quite a few good stuff remaining, so I got the main things that I need as I make my way around saying hello to a few of the vendors that I normally buy from.
Making my last stop at Joe's stall to get some pumpkin as Trixie loves pumpkin soup I always tend to get some for her from Joe as he always has the best pumpkins, but he wasn't there instead I was greeted by his wife Margret who is a lovely lady as well as her husband.
"Hi Marget! Joe have you doing his job today. " I joked a little.
"Hi dear and hello to you too sunshine."
she smiled and waved at Trixie.
Trixie shyly waved back and give her a small smile snuggling into me.
She is more accustomed to Joe as he is normally the one selling and always do silly things to make her laugh when we are here or sneaking her fruits no matter how many times I told him it's not necessary he always waves me off saying don't worry about it.
"Let me guess your here for some pumpkin." Margret ask
"Yep! Joe's is the best in town. I don't know what he be putting in the soil but he better don't stop doing it." I answered and she laughed saying " I have no idea either, but he did mention that you will be by so he made sure to set yours aside and instructed me not to sell it no matter what."
"Where is he by the way, I haven't seen him since I arrived." I ask her as she fetch me the pumpkin.
"Oh he has gone to the next town over doing a delivery which is why I'm here managing the stall." she replied smiling and handing me a bag with the pumpkin what looks like to be a squash in there as well along with some peaches and carrots. "I only need the pumpkin Margret can't afford the others today." I told her.
"Pfft! They are all yours no need to pay, Joe told me to give it to you no charge."
"Arghhh! That stubborn old man I'm fed up telling him that he don't have to do this. He never listens." I said shaking my head.
"That he don't! he is as stubborn as a rock and won't take no for an answer. So here you go he said you will protest and try arguing about getting it for free so I must not let you leave without it."
"He said these are for your little angel so you can't say no and just take it no complaints." she laughed explaining and I couldn't help but laugh too.
"Haha! That man is unbelievable, he just wait until I see him we will have words then." Huhhh! I sighed shaking my head and accepting the bag.
"Thank you! Margret and give Joe my thanks as well I appreciate it but he needs to stop as he is losing out on his profit by doing so and make sure to relay to him that we will hash it out next time I see him."
"You are most welcome dear, I will be sure to let him know. You are both stubborn so good luck on getting that rock head to relent." she laughed saying and I just had to laugh as well as I know she is right."
"Well thanks once again we have to get going as I need to make a stop at the grocery store as well. "
"Alright go on don't let me keep you. Do enjoy the rest of your day you too sunshine."
"Thank you and you as well." I replied and set off to my car struggling a bit but made it with everything in place none the less. I placed the bags on the floor unlocking the car getting Trixie strapped in and then loading the bags in the trunk getting in the drivers seat driving off to the store. At the store I set her up in the top of the cart and began down the aisles, ticking off the main stuff that we will be getting today and leaving the rest for during the week. As we make our way around getting the items I gave Trixie her toy that I brought to keep her occupied.
"Mama look." Trixie smiled pointing to a bottle of Gerber baby puffs bites. She loves those things. "Do you want your puffs?" I asked taking a strawberry and apple mix one from the shelf. I had it written down as one of the things to get for her today.
"Yes pwease."
I went to place it in the cart but she wanted to hold it instead so i give it to her. As we continued down the aisle and neared the produce section I spotted Dylan there and before he can see us I quickly turned around and in doin so Trixie saw the bananas and began chanting, "Bana! Bana! " I paid her no mind trying to quickly get away without being seen. I ducked into the other aisle hoping he didn't see us.
"Mama bana!" Trixie said sadly seeing that I didn't get her the bananas. "Yes baby I know mama's going to get you your bananas ok! We are just taking a different route." I said not wanting her to see her sad while going down this aisle praying Dylan will be gone by then.
"Bana?"
"Yes we are going to get your bananas."
"Yay!" she clapped getting excited. As we neared the end of the aisle getting back to the produce section I stayed close to the shelf and snuck a peek around to make sure he was fone with no sign of him I continued onwards to get my baby her bananas.
"Mama bana." Trixie said after spotting the bananas again. I pushed the cart over getting closer stretching to get a bunch of bananas just as they were within my grasp. " I thought that was you." Dylan said startling me causing me to drop the bananas.
"Mama bana! Trixie exclaimed getting sad again seeing the bananas in the floor. That snapped me out of my startled state and I quickly picked them up replace them with a different bunch send dropped them in the cart.
"Mama? That's your daughter." Dylan ask snapping out of his trance as well after hearing Trixie say mama.
"As you can see she is." I answered pushing the cart away wanting to get away from him but he had other ideas as he catch up to me saying "it seems we keep bumping into each other. Didn't even know you had a daughter. Congrats, she's beautiful! looks a lot like you."
"I would sure hope so." I answered continuing on my way but he kept following beside us. 'Can't this man see I am trying to get away from him.' I thought to myself.
"Seems like you are trying to avoid me." he said. Can he hear my thoughts or did I say that out loud let's hope not.
"No s**t Sherlock." I mumbled under my breath softly for him not to hear me and just continued making my way to the check out point ignoring him. Guess he noticed cause next he said "Bella, please. Can't we just talk. I really did miss you. How about we get a drink or something and catch up."
'Is he mental I'm really beginning to believe that.' I chided to myself
"Even if I wanted to and I don't I can't. I have responsibilities and catching up with you as you put it is not one if them." I informed him "Whatever it is you've heard about me around town or what you think you may know is not me. My daughter comes first always and is one of the few people that I do spend time with. "
I proceeded to the checkout line with him still in tow.
"How old is she?"
"How is that your business?" I asked rolling my eyes.
"Just trying to form a conversation. Hi Angel. he said waving at Trixie who smiled shyly back at him. She has the most beautiful smile. it has always captivated me because she has her father's smile along with her eyes. As I looked up at him making faces at her trying to get her to smile again, I wonder if he will see it too. He has no idea he is even playing with his daughter right now and I feel a little guilty thinking that as I never told him but also remembering he ghosted me in the first place which is why I never did so I didn't dwell on my thoughts any more.
"Princess can mama get your puffs. I just need to pay for it then I'll hand it right back okay?" I tell her as I take it from her and pass it to the cashier."
"Mama puffs" she said getting sad again tears welling up in her eyes. I just sighed getting it back from the cashier after she finished scanning it and pass it back to her emitting a bright smile on her face. I paid for the rest of the groceries and headed out of the store.
Getting to my car I unlock it strapped her into her seat before loading the groceries into the trunk going around after closing it to get into my car. Dylan came jogging over to me.
"I was hoping I would catch you before you leave." he smiled "What's wrong Bella? You seem really upset with me and I have no idea what I did or said wrong."
"That's just the problem Dylan! You have no idea what you did huh! I waited like the fool I was for you to call or even write as you promised and you never did. Now three years later here you are asking me what you did wrong. I thought we had something special, I believed that we did despite everything, but that was just my stupidity that thought that. I was so stupid." I said fighting back my tears.
"You know what it doesn't even matter anymore. I have to go." I said getting in my car but he held the door before I can close it.
"Im sorry okay! when my parents told me what they heard around town, that you were seeing so many guys, that you had no idea which one of them was your child's father, and then my sisters told me the same thing. Even my friends said it. I didn't know what to think couldn't even believe you were pregnant let alone keep it despite not knowing who the father is."
'The f**k he just say. He cannot be serious right now. Does he want me to murder him or something. The nerve of this man.' I thought to myself
"I know exactly who my child father is. It was my decision not to tell anyone as it wasn't their business and still isn't. I've been doing just fine on my own without his help and will continue to do so as he doesn't need to be burdened with my choices. Keeping my daughter was the best decision I ever made and I won't let anyone views or opinions make me feel otherwise." I snapped at him pushing him away from my door trying to close it but he held onto it again making me even more angry.
"How old is she?"
"Why don't you ask your family or the people of the entire town perhaps since they seems to be well informed and know so much." I slapped his hand off my door finally getting to close it and driving away not waiting to hear his response.
