So much had been lost to the war, millions of resources and countless lives. Nothing had been left untouched, not even the planet. What had once been a beautiful wild place had either been destroyed by fighting or made orderly by the human's, what had once been a forest filled with giant trees and amazing animals was now a landfill; oceans once clear and filled with laughter and treasures were now tainted by dead sea life and pollution. Even underground had been ravaged, mines dug, mountains destroyed, thousands forced from their homes in the name of human progress.
There was nothing left for them now, what little the humans hadn't taken over had been picked over for resources and mostly destroyed. There were only a few thousand of us left, those that had called this planet home before the humans had invaded. We had been kind to them, helping them to survive on a planet so different from their own, we helped them build homes, taught them to respect the forests and the waters, the sky and the caves... that small group flourished with our help.
Then more Humans started arriving, in huge ships that came from beyond Eternal's reach. They came in the millions-fleeing their own dying planet- it wasn't long before our teachings were forgotten, we tried to stop them peacefully as they started to cut down trees, and dig up the ground. Every day more and more ships arrived and more and more Humans with them, they destroyed more and more forest as they built up their settlements, they slaughtered thousands of animals with next to no hesitation-even when they didnt need them for food.
We became Monsters and Humanity drove us away from them.
The War started when one of the Humans killed one of our children that had gotten curious and wandered close to the edge of the woods that bordered a group of the Human's houses, our search party found her hours later as one of the Humans was removing her skin and organs. They claimed it had been their right to kill her, that she had been trespassing and that the law stated that they could keep any animal that they killed.
I never regretted killing that Human, i only regretted that he had died so swiftly. We gathered the Council that night and by morning we had decided that action had to be taken, Humans would not get away with killing a child.
The Human's in charge of the settlements refused to meet with us, so we went to them and interrupted one of their meetings. We told them of the child's death, of how one of their own murdered her and how they had to fix it. They spoke sweetly and lied, they tried to reassure us that something like this would never happen again, that they didn't have to do anything because their laws said killing was bad.
It had already happened, and empty promises was not enough for us, we threatened war if nothing was done to ensure this never happened again... The leaders ordered their guards to kill us all.
We had no idea how far Humans would go to win a war, when they seemed to be loosing they kidn*pped our young and threatened to kill them if we didn't stand down, they were tortured, used for experiments and forced to do unthinkable things-then when they were no more use they were slaughtered like pigs.
We fought harder, Humans had numbers and machines but we had strength and powerful allies, around us our world fell, Humans burned forests and poisoned water, they planted explosives and killed everything they came across that wasn't one of them. They destroyed any land they couldn't hold, even if we won a battle the land was forever ruined, they bred so much faster then any of us, their armies just kept coming, their inventions became more and more cruel, if they couldn't hold a stronghold they destroyed it's liveability.
