Avery's POV

Humming a tune while making breakfast I turned to see my parents perplexed expressions

"What?" I asked confused

"It's barely 6 am and you're awake and active, really it's not like it's a bad thing, but we are just surprised"

"Oh, today's different I guess" I replied with a chuckle.

They were right. I'm not a morning person and it's usually a hassle getting me out of bed but today just felt different, I woke up feeling like I just couldn't wait to start the day. I felt so happy even my wolf was buzzing

Dad went over to the coffee maker to brew some coffee for himself and mom, I don't take coffee. I was making a pancake breakfast, I think I fried too much but oh well

"Who's hungry," I said louder than was necessary

"Avery please share the reason for your joy," mom said

"I honestly don't know mom, I'm just in a good mood" I replied

"I know, it's because of the ball happening later tonight right" dad said smirking at me

"I guess so because I can't think of anything else happening today" I said

"Maybe your mate is going to be one of the young men in attendance," mom said gushing

"Maybe, maybe not I'm not going to think about it so I don't get disappointed when nothing happens "

"Maybe it's just your wolf being joyous about the return of the Alpha, the whole park is looking forward to his arrival which is the reason for the ball in the first place" Dad says

"Dad's probably right, I'm sure that's it"I mused.

"Avery just a few hours left, I'm so excited!" Claire gushed

"So am I, the entire pack is in high spirit" I replied....."I mean look at the banners the decorations and everything"

"You're so right, I am looking forward to seeing Axel again, I hope he's the same as when we were kids and some stuck up guy now," Chase said

"He won't be, I'm so sure of it, he's perfect" Claire objected

"Well I'm ready for him to come so we can both officially start our roles as leaders of the pack. I know I'll be a great Beta" Chase boasted

"Hello everyone" Beta Anthony said walking in

"Hey" we all replied simultaneously "You're back early" Chase comments

"I'm not back, I forgot to take some files with me so I came to get them.....Avery, pass me those files close to you please" he replied "where is your mother"

"I'm here" she stated

"Dad is the new Alpha back yet" Claire asked

"No, and this obsession you and your mother have is fatuous" he said slamming the door

AXEL's POV

I am returning home today and that's something I'm really glad about, it's not that I hated it here but I miss my family. I haven't seen them for a long time although we communicate through phone calls it's not the same thing as being with them. The last time I saw my parents was when I was 13 which was when I was sent to Alpha camp. Basically, The Alpha camp was an idea formulated by the pack elders of old to foster unity among packs, it's a training ground for Alpha males. Here, we learn skills that help us become better leaders for our individual packs such as Agility, Adaptability, Initiative, Self-control, Resilience, and focus, through intensive physical and mental training. It wasn't all work here though there were free days when we were free to do whatever we wanted, it was only during days like this that we were permitted to make phone calls. I would miss this place because I've made a lot of good and fun memories here; like the times when my friends and I would sneak out of campgrounds to have fun in the town sometimes we didn't get caught but when we did get caught we would face severe punishment I remembered laughing out loud

"Dude! I'm so happy, I can't wait to get out of here" my closest friend Bryce cheered

"Me too bro" I replied

"The cars are ready" was announced loudly

"I'll miss all you a$$holes" Christopher one of the alpha's with us exclaimed

"We are all attending the Alpha ball so we'll each later tonight" Bryce jeered

"I'm saying this now in case I find my mate and I don't remember any of you losers exist"Christopher chortled

All of us ended up laughing as we walked toward the cars that would take us to the airport.

Axel's POV

After an exhausting flight, all I want to do is rest, I actually don't see the point of a party. As we drove through the park gates I realized how much I missed home, a lot of things had changed since the last time I was here and I couldn't wait to go around the pack and meet the members of the pack. A lot of pack members cheered as the car passed and I saw decorations everywhere with different welcome signs, it was beautiful.

My wolf was feeling very agitated and I couldn't understand why

"Kai what's wrong," I asked my wolf..." nothing really I just feel different" he replied

''Different how?" I inquired, "I don't know just different" he stated

We had arrived at the pack house, which was the dwelling place of the Alpha and where meetings were held. As soon as I stepped out of the car, I saw my little sister run up to me to hug me.

"Hello little one, you've sure grown up from the last time I saw you, "I said

"That was 10 years ago, I was 6. I'm 16 now" she said proudly

Next, it was my parents

"I missed you so much" my mom sobbed while hugging me

"Stop being overdramatic woman, he's here now and nothing is wrong with him" Dad scolded

"Welcome home son," he said looking at me with pride

I asked my dad to keep the welcome private because I didn't want to have to greet a lot of people and be bombarded with questions, that can wait till later. My dad's beta was the person other than my family that was present

"Welcome back boy," he said with a path on the back

"Thank you sir" I replied

"Well I'd like to go and freshen up" I said going to my room but as I went to my room. I couldn't help but wonder about the source of the faint sweet scent I picked up on the Beta when I stood close to him. I guess I'll find out tonight.
