Getting out of the shower I wrapped a towel around myself, stepping into my room to dress up with music blaring from my speaker like I usually do, I was meeting up with Claire and I had already spent too much time in the bathroom.

Going into the sitting room after dressing up, I saw my dad and mom watching a wrestling match and for someone who claims not to like it, mom was very interested.

"Morning Avery," my dad said turning from the tv

"Good morning dad" I replied

I walked over to my mother and kissed her "Good morning mother, seems like sports entertainment just gained a new supporter".

"I'm not a supporter, I don't like violence there's just nothing else to watch" she replied

"Says the woman mated to a pack warrior I said with a laugh......"Well I'm going out, Claire and I are meeting up "

But you haven't had breakfast yet "mom said"

"Don't worry I'm fine, bye guys" I said already out the door

"Be careful" I heard dad yell

After an almost 10-minute walk to her house, I spotted my best friend Claire conversing with a guy in the pack I didn't know his name though, in fact, they were a lot of people I didn't talk to in the park because I don't socialize much. Claire and I had many differences which made our friendship peculiar to anyone looking from outside. While I was relatively quiet, She was loud and bubbly. She has dark hair while I had blonde hair. She was always dressed fashionably in trendy clothes while I chose comfort over style. We've been friends since I can remember and we do everything together including train and of course me letting her win every time, she added a little crazy to my life and I helped reduce her crazy so we are the perfect duo.

"Avery! "she yelled walking away from the guy

"What were you guys talking about, "I asked

"Well Fred was telling me that he had feelings for me, I was just kindly letting him know that I already know my mate so I can't reciprocate his feelings" she replied

"Oh" was all I could say because in as much as I didn't agree with having relationships with people you're not mated to I also don't agree with her planning her life based on an assumption but I love her and would support her always.

As we moved around the pack watching business owners open up and people going about their daily activities.Our pack was like a small town of werewolves so here people that stores, cafes and things like that, if you wanted to get something they didn't have here then you could drive out of the gate to the human territory. I noticed there were some omega's moving around with decorations.

Our pack like others had ranks ;The Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Warriors and Omegas.Here omegas weren't slaves but they did the small jobs in the pack.

"Claire why are decorations being made are we celebrating something" I turned to ask her

She looked at me shaking her head "Avery, everyone knows that the Alpha's son is returning this weekend"

"I knew it was soon I just didn't know when, stop staring at me like I'm stupid" I replied

"Well now you know, anyway what are your plans for the day"

We are going to your house because I realized I'm hungry then I'd go over to check on the progress of some young pups at the training grounds"

She started at me like she was expecting me to continue "What" I asked

She just laughed and said "You have no social life"

When we got to her house we were greeted by her father who was heading out "Good afternoon ladies" he said

"Good afternoon Beta Anthony", "Hey dad" we both replied

Just then we saw Claire's older brother Chase come out of the kitchen with a plate of raspberry, lemon, and coconut slice "Hey Avery".Without even replying him, I yelled "Race you to the kitchen"

"We're too old to be" she started to say but I pushed her out of the way running with full speed to the kitchen while laughing, then she ran and grabbed my shirt in an attempt to pull me behind and we both ended up on the floor laughing at our childishness

Then later got up and walked into the kitchen like "Proper ladies" after being scolded by Claire's mom

"Avery please wipe your mouth you don't look like a proper lady" Claire said with a fake accent

"Shut up" I replied and we both burst into laughter.

On getting to the training ground I saw only the pups in need of training which wasn't normal because the pack grounds was pack warrior base and any wolf who wanted to stretch, do exercises or spar came here so I wondered why it was almost empty today.

"Hey, Steven where are the others?" I asked

"Hey Avery, they were summoned by the Gamma, I don't know the details but I know they plan to tighten the pack security" He said

"Why though would it be because the Alpha's son is coming" I thought

"Well I did hear something about rogue sighting from my dad so that's most likely the reason" Ryan the oldest in the group said

I was outraged that my Father hadn't told me about anything, he treats me like some fragile egg, I'm already 19 and I'm old enough to do things like go on border control training but he won't let me always saying things like it's too dangerous, I tried complaining to the Beta but he just agreed with my dad. It's annoying because the real reason is that I'm a female, if I was a male they'd let me go instead of just leaving me in charge of training young ones; don't get me wrong I love them but I could do so much more. I could take on many of the pack warriors my age and win. I know I'm strong.

"You are strong my love" My wolf Iris said in my head

"It's just not fair" I whispered

"It's ok Avery you'll show all of them" Steve said and I chuckled

"Averyyyy..... you promised to teach me a roundhouse kick" Rufus said

"I will teach you but first you need to learn defense and basic fighting techniques" I replied

"But that's so boring" he whined

I just laughed "Ok guys come together and each of you find a partner, Ryan you're with me" I said taking off my shirt I always wore a sports bra underneath when coming here.

You see I and a few others are in charge of training the under 16, each pack member was to begin training at the age of 12 but those of us that were children of pack warriors started training at 10. In my pack and there are 10 wolfs under me ranging from 13 to 16.

"Ok we did blocking last time so now we're going to try adding attacks...Alright, start! "

"Commit to the fight''

"Focus on what you have to do"

"Exhale sharply with every punch" I ordered

"Phoebe" breathe when you defend! "

After 2 hours I called them together "Remember that practice makes perfect, keep practicing and you'd be good at it in no time and also know when to stop, ok? "

"Yes Avery" they responded

"Bye guys" I said after picking up the shirt that I had taken off earlier.

I was going home to wait for my dad so I can give him a piece of my mind when he returned
