“You have to get a hold of yourself! You have awoken, take control!” He yelled once more before turning back into his human form. He approached his Mother with open arms, hoping to soothe her enough to change. She began to sob into his chest as the creature faded away. She had slept since his Father betrayed her, all those years ago. She couldn’t bear the heart ache as he left and chose to hibernate. Some of their kind turned to madness after hibernating for so long, but Vlad wasn’t going to see the same happen to her. “That girl must be so frightened” his Mother cried more, “Goddess what have I done?” He held her tightly, thinking of Seren. He needed to go and check on her. As he approached her bedroom, he listened for any signs or sounds of her emotions. He left his Mother with Helga, to bathe and regain her strength. He knocked at the door but didn’t have the patience to wait for her response, he barged through the door and into her space. She laid on the bed, face down. He was unsure if she was asleep or unconscious, rushing to her side. He inspected her face, brushing a few stray hairs behind her ear. She was breathing. He sighed in relief, his eyes trailing over her. As he did, he noticed dried blood over her collar, and moved her hair completely away from her shoulder. “f**k” he hissed, seeing the bite mark his Mother had left. “f**k” “Is everything okay sir?” Helga hurried into the room, after hearing his outburst. His Mother following closely behind. “She’s bitten..” he sighed, sitting on the bed and pulling her unconscious body into his lap. “Mother what have you done?” He demanded, cradling Seren into him. His Mother gasped, beginning to panic and rush around in order to find healing salve. Helga covered both of them in a blanket before chasing after his Mother. “Lady Hansen!” She called. “I’ll help you through this” Vlad whispered, watching Seren’s eyes flutter unconsciously. Seren - Pain, all she could feel was pain as she awoke. Her eyes blurry and blinded by the light that poured into the room. She had feelings of warmth and safety surrounding her, she slowly peered out of her tired eyelids, adjusting. Vlad was holding her close to him, the sounds of him fast asleep seemed to soothe her pain and his calm heart beat caught her attention. “Miss Nava?” She heard a whisper from beside them. A woman knelt, holding a wash cloth and dabbing it on Seren’s forehead. Seren looked towards the woman, recognising her face instantly, but this time she did not feel any fear. “I’m so sorry” Vlad’s Mother whispered as she held Seren’s face. “For what I have done is unforgivable” Seren frowned, placing her hand on top of his Mother’s, she slowly shook her head. “I forgive you” she whispered back to her. She didn’t question why Vlad was holding her, the blanket that covered them or the fact that his Mother who had recently attacked her was now someone she felt quite fond of. She just drifted back to sleep, listening to the sound of his beating heart. When she woke again, Vlad was running his hand through her hair, brushing the hair from her face and trailing behind her ear. She didn’t open her eyes but enjoyed his touch against her skin. She could hear him sigh as he looked upon her, cupping her chin in his hand. “Goddess help me” he sighed to himself. “You must have cast a spell on me” Seren questioned what he meant, when they first met he had accused her of trying to trap him, and now saying she had put a spell on him? It felt like a backhanded compliment, but his touch convinced her otherwise. Vlad - As he watched over Seren, sound asleep, he couldn’t help but admire her. He took in every feature and detail of her face. Deep down he knew there was a strange pull to her. How overwhelmed her scent made him, and the fact it followed him all over the house. He was becoming more and more obsessed with her existence. He moved his hand to cradle her face, sighing, “goddess help me” as he smiled upon her, “you must have cast a spell on me” Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Helga approach, realising he had been with Seren for longer than he anticipated. He knew he had to get back to working, remembering his promise to her. “Helga I’m going to prepare to investigate Seren’s home properly, and please tell me when she wakes” he whispered, gently moving Seren to lay beside where he sat. “Of course sir” she replied. His footsteps became quieter as he left, leaving Seren feeling a pang of disappointment in her chest.
