We made it to the hospital and were waiting with Nicholas, Alice, and Distrime to hear from the doctors on Ollie's condition. The hospital was really just an old three-story building that held over a hundred rooms in it; over the years it was restored to its previous state. Each floor was different: the first floor was for the humans who knew about us and coexisted within the town, it held its own waiting room and café just like the other floors. Next was the second floor; it was for us shifters; when injured, we resided in the rooms here, waiting for our time to go to the third floor that was mainly made for surgeries and etc. It felt like a century had passed before the doctor came out to talk to us. Nicholas was a total wreck, even after the doctor sad that Ollie would make it. He just wouldn't believe it till he was holding his love in his arms. We had left the two early the next morning to go get some sleep ourselves, with me promising to the bandage-covered Ollie that I will come back later on. I fell asleep and was back at the waterfall; Alexander in the same spot he was in before, but instead of it being sunny it was cloudy. I silently walked over and sat down. "Ash, I'm-" I cut him off, not letting him finish his sentence. "Don't; I don't want to think about it right now. Just finish telling me what happened." And he did. "She found him dead. His arms and legs were tied to a chair. It looked liked he was beaten to death. You could barely recognize his face by how swollen it was, and the amount of blood that was flowing out and onto the floor. The Queen was so shocked that she didn't hear the men come back until a bullet flew through the air inches from her face. "I told you she would come just like he said," one of the men said, but what they did suspect was their heart in her hands in a flash. It was a quick, painless death. Their foolish mistake caused the world to fall into chaos. With her mate in her arms, the Queen stepped out of the house, darkness filling the skies with every footstep she walked until the world was in complete darkness. She had hate filling her heart for humans, and every one she crossed died. This went on for a century until a brave little wolf confronted the Queen and begged for forgiveness and light again. The Queen did so, but not without a price - he was to stay here with her for the rest of his life. And so he did. As time went by her heart opened again for the wolf, and soon after they fell in love and had a baby; and the Queen was happy again, until word got back to her brother Shan and he came to visit. What the Queen never found until that day was why Carlos had been captured in the first place. Through a heated argument between Shan and the Queen, he let it be known that he held hatred for the Queen, and to caused her to go berserk so he could get the darkness from her, he had the men go after Carlos. He was the oldest of the two, and was furious that the power of Darkness wasn't bestowed onto him. The Queen banished him from the Shadow world for all his days, and he had to walk among humans. Shan didn't take this well, and sought out the help of an evil witch, asking for power that was greater than that of the Queen. The foolish witch did so, but the power was too great for Shan, and it consumed him, turning him even more vicious and angry, until the Queen had to step in before he brought even more chaos to the world. There was a battle between the two siblings. Upon Shan's dying words, he vowed revenge upon her future generation, and to come back when someone in her bloodline comes of age to receive the Darkness power. He said he would come back as the person's loved one. The Queen, taking note of that, left and went home to another m******e: everyone in her castle was dead. Only the source of a baby cry could be heard. There, in front of her bedroom door, stood her wolf mate and their child, blood covering both of them. After time went by, the Queen and her mate decided to take the little girl away from the Shadowworld to the human world. They thought that if they did this, then the child would not receive the power. But that was centuries ago, and the Queen is still alive, but she's in her last days." As Alexander was talking, I felt myself leaning against him more and more. It felt nice, dangerous, exhilarating. I was starting to feel drawn towards him, I had to stop looking at him because every time I did, my eyes fell to his full, kissable lips. Snap out of it Ash, no. "So why are you telling me?" I asked, even though I had kind of figured it out; I wanted to hear him confirm it. "That bloodline is in your family; you are the descendants of the queen, and is due to take over her power once she passes away." He confirmed it. Is it really that hard to have a normal freaking life? Yes, yes, it is. I rolled my eyes at my own thought, earning a questioning look from Alexander. "So what now? Who are you to her, anyways?" I was still leaning into him, but the only difference now was that he wrapped his arms around me. My heart felt like it was right, normal even, but my mind felt like I should push him away. "I am her right-hand son. She tasked me with the job of finding and recovering you. And now you choose to: A. Come with me and see for yourself; or B. Stay and fight against an unknown force that you don't even know anything about." I was frozen in place, trying to digest all the new information that he's given me. With only a year until the battle adding more weight on my shoulders, it was causing me to become depressed. The stormy clouds that drew were only the only thing helping me to calm down, the darkness around us was wrapping me into a blanket of comfort. But it wasn't enough; my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest and my head was gonna explode from all this knowledge. •Ace, I think I might have a panic attack.• •Just breath and let me take over.• •Ok.• I was too consumed in my thoughts to hear what Ace was saying to Alexander. All I know is that I'm back up and in my room. If what Alexander is telling me is true, then that means Shan is really Mark. But he couldn't have been born that way; somehow and someway Shan got into Mark's head. If that's so, then that might be why he wanted to rush the battle, to give me less time to actually get the power and master it. It was scary how I might die on that day, without that extra help. I shivered at the unknown breeze that was coming from my opened balcony door - wait, I remembered I had closed it before I went to bed. I slid my hand under my pillow for my gun as my eyes swept the room. Seeing no sign of anyone, I inched myself out of bed and made my way to the balcony. Shocked upon seeing who was there, I took a step back before rushing forward and dragging the unconscious, bleeding Ashley into my room. Ashley's POV Two days ago I sat in my room (that I had to share with Mark) with dread. It had been a horrible year for everyone in the pack after Ash, Ollie, and Alice left. Mark has always been aggressive, but it has gotten worst over the months; even with me being his mate, he hits me, especially that one night. I shivered at that thought, when he battled and killed his father in order to become the Alpha of this pack a year in advance, and I told him off for doing so when his father said he gives up. With him Alpha, thing took a turn for the worst; the pack became ruthless, fighting and killing each other. It was the survival of the fittest, the strong bully the weak and let someone ask to leave the pack. Mark would let them run into the woods before letting the other pack members chase after them and drag their kicking body back to pack grounds. I would say some would wish they were dead because what happened to them afterwards still gives me nightmares. Hearing the awful wolf cries late into the night at the Moon Goddess for salvation. I was done; I have cried my last tears for the twins that were killed when we went to see Ash. Wow, Ash she looked great after the year I haven't seen her. I have always regretted not apologizing for all the evil things I have done to her, and I vow to make up to her, but I just hope that she has gotten my message and is willing to help me and take me in. Cause I am leaving this pack either way it goes. I had already stored my back pack full of food, drinks, and clothes on the other side of the border and I was gonna ask to leave tomorrow night. Wham My head flew to the side, knocking me onto the bed. I was stunned for a second before I looked to Mark, for he was towering over me; the boy I use to know was nowhere. My body went rigid as I knew what was going to happen next. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My body ached from last night; he was much more aggressive, something tells me he might know what I am planning to do. He has kept me locked in this room all day. The i***t forgot to lock the balcony door though, so I quickly dressed in a tight-fitted black one piece, tying my hair up, climbing down the balcony wall and making my way towards the mess hall where the whole pack gathered. •Aly are you ready for this?•. I asked my wolf as I felt her stir awake; I had her resting for the past three days to build up her strength for this mini chase we were about to do. •Yes, Crystal, I am; have no fear, I will get us out of here.• With that, I pushed open the door, causing all talking to cease and all eyes to turn towards me. On the look of most peoples' faces said they knew what was about to happen, even Mark. His piercing eyes glared at me from his throne seat. "Mark Donovan, I wish to leave your pack and forfeit my right to be Luna."
