*Unknown POV* Nothing could be heard over the loud wind; it seem like as time went by, the wind grew stronger. Even if you could hear over the wind, you wouldn"t hear anything, as both parties were just staring at each other. One group surrounded their leader and friend, as a protective barrier sending their enemy a death glare; while the shadowy party smiled at them sickly. Even though Alexander, on the outside was calm and unfazed, on the inside his rage was boiling. He had came too late; she had meet her second mate, but there was still time. He had to cut this engagement short, as he had someone to kill for the bad info and a plan to rethink. Ash"s POV After a while, I could manage the pain that was coursing through my back, and I got down from Jasper, putting my bra back on slowly as to not disturb it. "So I"m guessing you will not give her to me?" Alexander chuckled, looking at the fierce expression he was seeing on the five faces before him. "No, they will not be giving me to you, nor and I going at my will." I said, squaring my shoulders the best I could without gasping at the pain. "I guess I"ll have to take my leave this time." With a flick of his hand, a cloud of darkness appeared behind him. His men went through, leaving only him. When I looked upon that darkness, it was like it was pulling against my soul to draw it in. I had to turn my gaze away from it because I feared that if I kept looking, I might sink in and never come back out; just be lost in that darkness to my thoughts and nightmares. "You may have won this battle, but let"s just see if you will win the upcoming war." He flicked a smirk before disappearing into the portal and closing it, before we could ask him what he meant. As he disappeared, so did the wind storm, making it seem like wherever he went, chaos followed. "Well, that was interesting. Hey, Ash, how"s your back?" Ollie asked, coming towards me. "Oh, it"s just peachy, Oliver. Doesn"t hurt one bit." I sarcastically replied back. "Oh really, so if I did th-" He was cut off by the glare I shot at him, my eyes portraying a do it if you dare look as his hands were inches from slapping my back. "Ollie, stop messing with Ash, even if it"s funny," Nicholas said, wrapping his arms around Ollie. The only one that wasn"t trying to make a joke out of it was Jasper. His face was serene, not letting any emotions show. We made it back to the pack house, and Jasper forced me to go upstairs and lay down. Without knowing, I had drifted off to sleep. "Hello Ash." I turned around and saw Alexander here in my dream. We were standing back in my old pack woods beside the little waterfall. "How did you get here?" I asked, taking a cautious step back, ready to bolt if he tried anything. "I can"t physically harm you in your dream Ash, and no, I can"t read your mind," he said, taking a seat on one of the boulders beside the water. The way he walked made it seem like he was gliding across the grass. "What do you want, then?" I asked. "How about you come over and sit with me. I"d like to tell you a story." He patted the spot beside him, and even though I was scared of him, I felt oddly calm; so I went and sat beside him. In the process, I accidentally brushed my arm against his and felt an electrical shockwave go from his body to mine. "This is a story that my mother told me. Once there was a dark queen that controlled all the shadows in the world. She had flowing black hair, red eyes, and a pale complexion. For a Dark Queen, she was happy; she had a mate named Carlos who would calm her when she was angry, make her laugh when she was sad. He was the love of her life, but he was also a lowly servant. Nobody knew that he was her mate, upon his wishes. So when the day came that the queen was absent, a guard sent him to the human world to deliver a message; but sadly he was captured by the humans. The queen was oblivious of this, since she was gone for three days and four nights, and upon those nights, Carlos was tortured for information that he did not have. When the queen came back, she searched everywhere for Carlos, but never found him, so she called the guards to see where he was. Upon discovering he was in the human word, she went there herself. It took her months to find him. She looked in almost every region of the world, trying to find her lost mate, and she was about to give up when she stumbled upon a cabin in the woods, and there he w-" "Ash, please wake up." "I see our time is up. Until next time, my Queen." He tilted his head, and I was thrust back into reality. I woke back up with a mind frame to murder the person who had woken me. Jasper was leaning over me, his face inches away from mine. That pleasant smell filled my nose, wiping away any grudges I was holding against him. I leaned forward to capture his mouth, but he pulled back. "None of that now. We need to get some food in you, seeing as you slept for a day and half straight." I gasped; it felt like I had just gone to sleep. I looked down at my clothes, seeing that I had been changed into a long Adventure Time t-shirt. "Who changed me?" I asked, looking at him as a playful smirk appeared on his lips. "Me of course, I gave you a bath too. Don"t worry I washed every. Part. Of. Your. Body." The way he said it caused a shiver to course through my body as I pictured him bathing me. "Perv." "You"re the perv, though," he said, pulling me to my feet and out the door to the kitchen. It was oddly quiet in the house. "Where is everyone?" I asked, as I slid slowly into one of the chairs in the kitchen, so as to not mess with my back, but when it touched the chair; I didn"t feel any pain at all. I"d have to ask Alexander about that. Wait, what the hell am I saying, I"m making it sound like I trust him and he is my friend. Maybe I should tell Jasper about my dream; on the other hand, I might not, and wait to get more information out of him first. Yeah, I"ll do that. "They"re asleep Ash, it"s, like, 2:30 in the morning," Jasper said, as he sat a plate of eggs and pancakes in front of me. "So how is your back feeling?" he asked. I told him what it felt like in between bites. Now that I was fully awake and my brain was now working again, I took in his features. He had bags under his eyes; and his usually shaved beard could now be seen clearly. It looks like he hadn"t slept in a while. "Jasper," I waited for his eyes to meet mine. "What"s wrong? It looks like you haven"t slept in a while." I lifted my hand, shocking his cheek, sending an electrical charge through me into my palm. It seemed like that action had him relaxed. "Ash......you weren"t really asleep for a day. More like you were dead for a day and a half, seeing as your heart stopped beating, and then it started back up all last night when I went to go check on you," Jasper said. I knew he was telling the truth, as it was something in his eyes. I couldn"t explain how I knew or what I felt as I looked into those gray mystery eyes; they could cause you to sink into them; they held more secrets then the C.I.A. "Wow, well that"s something I can check off my bucket list. Die and come back to life." I drew a check mark in the air, trying to lighten the mood in the room, and succeeded in getting a small chuckle and a smile out of him. "It will take more then some back pain to kill me off for good." Instead of finishing the conversation, we switched to another, and it was like that until Ollie and Alice came down the stairs. "Hey, what are y"all doing up so early?" Ollie said, coming towards the table, Alice right behind him after putting bread in the toaster. "Yeah - how the hell did you get Ash"s ass out of bed?" Alice questioned. For some reason, I felt there was a question inside of the question. I hoped Distrime didn"t tell Alice what he saw in Jasper"s office. Wait, why are they making it seem like I was just asleep and didn"t die? I looked to Jasper with the question in my eyes; and he shook his head at me. "What makes you think it wasn"t the other way around? Do you not believe that I can get up this early on my own?" I replied, with a fake pout on my lips. "No!" Ollie, Alice, and Distrime; who had just came down with Nicholas; and Jasper yelled. Damn, that was a shot to the heart for about half a second. "Aww, you all know me so well." They laughed at me, and we continued on through the morning. Today was Monday, and that meant no training, but instead we had to walk around the town and make sure everything and everyone is doing okay. It was a pretty beautiful day, the clouds were out, the sun shining. It was really just a peaceful day, too peaceful though. "Hi Alpha," a little girl; about the age of six said as she ran past, chasing after a big blue ball. Sue wore a pale green dress with colorful flowers on it. Her mother was right behind her, talking to some friends smiling the day away. We had ventured throughout the whole town, stopping at food shops to sample the food. Distrime had even bought the blushing Alice a wolf charm bracelet with a half moon, a howling wolf, and an "I love you" on it. It was just a quarter to 3:00 when we reached the edge of the town and turned back around. We were strolling back towards the pack house when one of our patrolling wolves came limping out of the trees. Half of his right shoulder was missing, along with the arm that used to be attached to it. One of his legs was twisted in an awkward way, showing the bone sticking out. He fell to the ground upon seeing that he had reached the Alpha. "Aaallpha..." the man moaned out, through the pain. We ran to him just as he fell. "What the f**k happened to him?" I heard Distrime asked. That question was on everyone"s mind. The man coughed up blood; you could tell that he did not have much longer to live. "Alpha, we tried to fight them off; but we were not prepared for him." "Shhh, calm yourself down. Tell us how this happened to you." He was trying his hardest to stay alive, but it was taking too much effort. "Alpha, they attacked us out of the blue on the boulder of our territory. It was over so quick that we didn"t even have a chance. I was the only one left, then he appeared with two wolves. They looked so vicious and half starved you could tell that the human part of them died, and they were just the wolf." He paused to take a shallow breath, knowing that the next words he spoke would be his last. "Hhee let them loose, and I ran. They chased me, and caused this. I"m surprised he called them back, because surely a couple more seconds, and I would have been dead by now." He stopped moving, coughing up more blood. His once blue eyes were turning a dull gray color. "Who is he?" I asked, but knew it was fatal; he had drawn his last breath a couple of seconds ago. "I am he, sweetheart."
