Chapter Two: The Alpha’s Eyes

244 Words
The bell rang — sharp and cold — snapping me out of the trance his eyes had pulled me into. I looked away first. I had to. He didn’t move. Just stood there, blocking the hallway like he owned it. And maybe... he did. "Watch where you're going,” he said, voice low like thunder rolling behind mountains. I blinked. “You bumped into me.” His lips twitched — was that a smirk or a snarl? Before I could say anything else, a girl with fire-red hair appeared at his side. “Come on, Kayden. You’re going to be late.” Kayden. So that was his name. He gave me one last unreadable look, then turned and walked away. The hallway emptied. But my heart didn’t calm. Later That Night... I couldn’t sleep. Again. The moonlight filtered through the dorm window like silver fire. My eyes burned, my skin itched... and then the dreams came again. Only this time — I wasn’t just watching. I was running. Through the forest. My paws hit the ground. Yes — paws. And behind me, I heard another wolf chasing. Not to kill. To find me. To protect me. I turned my dream-head and saw eyes glowing gold. His eyes. Kayden. I woke up gasping, the sheets tangled like vines around me. My heartbeat refused to slow. And on my wrist — right where I had dreamed it — was a faint crescent moon mark. Glowing softly.
