I sat in the living room with Sofia and Sandra, fuming. It had been days, and Jake still wasn’t with me. No matter how many times I tried to make him see the truth, he kept turning away. I couldn’t understand why. What more could I possibly do to make him mine?
Sofia glanced at me, a knowing look in her eyes. “Maybe it’s because you haven’t buried the potion yet, Amelia,” she said softly, trying to sound casual, though I knew the real meaning behind her words.
I slammed my fist onto the armrest. “I know that! I will. But first, I need to spray Jake one more time. Just one more spray, and I’ll bury the potion. Then everything will be perfect.”
