I looked at Elvie, feeling the weight of the moment. “Now that you’ve chosen to be with Jake, you don’t have the right to stop me from talking to anyone,” I said firmly, crossing my arms. “Especially since we didn’t even have an official relationship.”
Elvie seemed taken aback by my words. Her eyes filled with tears, and she stared at the ground. “You’re right,” she murmured, her voice soft and shaky. “We never had anything official, just a short fling… and you’ve always loved Alyssa.” She paused, her breath catching in her throat before she continued. “If you want to go back to her, I won’t stop you. You and Alyssa were always meant to be.”
