Pamela and I exchanged a look, startled as we saw Amelia standing at the door. She was quiet for a moment, her eyes filled with an urgency that made me feel uneasy. She stepped inside and, without a word, locked the door behind her. My heart picked up its pace as I watched her, unsure of what was coming next.
“I saw Alpha Jerry, Jake, and Tom leaving from here,” she said, her voice low but intense. “What happened?”
