Chapter Eight

Grayson's POV

Looking at the bloody mess around me, I let out a deep sigh.

“Durga”, Roshan calls out repeatedly as he holds his dead wife in his arms.

“I am very sorry for your loss, Roshan”. I expressed my condolences.

This is the worst way to lose one's mate.

“ Stefan succeeded in ruining everything” Serena said angrily.

“He just declared war on all of us” Falktor said, his voice also laced with anger.

“I think the best thing to do now, is to ensure our people's safety”, Queen Ursula said.

“We should all issue an order to all our citizens living outside to return to their respective kingdoms”, Alduin suggested, and we all nodded in agreement.

“I am going to rip out his f*****g canines!” Dineros yelled as soon as he regained his senses.

I could understand his anger as this was a huge humiliation for his kingdom. His drink was spiked, and his people were controlled by the dark witches and vampires to do their dirty job.

“We all have the span of fourteen days to retrieve our people from other kingdoms”, Roshan announced, and walked out with his wife's dead body in his arms.

‘Let's go’, I instructed through the mind link.

I gave a courtesy nod to the other kings and queens and left with my people.

“Gray, how are we going about this?” Raymond asked, but I wasn't really in the mood to talk.

He pats me on the shoulder to show he understands and leaves me to think.

On reaching home, I called an emergency meeting with the heads of the different packs.

“Your highness, everyone has arrived” a guard informed me and, without wasting time, I made my way to the meeting hall.

As soon as I got close to the door of the hall, I could hear loud voices seriously discussing. I immediately knew that Raymond had already briefed them on what had happened.

“YOUR HIGHNESS”

They all greeted in unison while standing on their feet.

“Sit down every one, I am sure my Beta has already briefed you on what is on ground now” I said, and they all gave affirmative nods.

“We need to bring back our people with immediate effect” I said, and they all agreed.

“The other kings and queens promised to help issue an order to our people in their respective kingdoms for them to return to Darkwood. But the main problem now is how to get our people out of the vampire's kingdom.

I plan on sending my Gamma and some warriors to Moonshire to bring back our people as soon as possible because Stefan cannot be trusted not to harm them”, I said, and they all agreed.

“If I may ask, why don't you go to Moonshire yourself?” my uncle said.

I knew he just wanted to annoy me and make me lose my cool, but I didn't even look his way nor answer him.

“Some people just like shifting responsibilities” he continued when I didn't answer him.

“Please mind your manners” Axel replied angrily.

I waved my hand at him to signal him to just ignore my good for nothing uncle.

“That will be all for today”, I announced and dismissed everyone.

Every other person left except my annoying uncle. He just sits there with a mischievous expression.

“Sir Ken, his highness has something to discuss with us, so make your way out” Ray said, and signaled two guards to escort him out.

“How dare you, a lowly Beta, ask me to leave the palace?”. He yelled at Ray.

“As your King, I order you to leave”, I replied to him with a smirk.

He always tries to make things difficult for me. He believes he would have made a better king than me. But he can only dream of it as long as I am alive.

“Let me see how long you can remain so cocky” he said, and turned to leave angrily.

I watched expressionlessly as he leaves and slams the door angrily.

“Axel, prepare for the journey to Moonshire. You will take ten warriors with you” I ordered, and he left to prepare.

“Ray, send word to the Alphas of the eight packs, they should prepare shelter homes for the returning citizens”, I turned to Ray and ordered.

This is the biggest threat that the supernatural world has ever seen.

I don't know why I suddenly feel a tightness in my chest. Maybe the stress is getting to me.

The next morning, Axel and the warriors set off for Moonshire.

Siara's Pov

This is one of the most eventful days of my life. I have never been to a fair before, so I couldn't hide my excitement.

“Girls, look over there” Aunt Sriti said, and we turned to look at what she was showing us.

“It's so beautiful!” Laxmi exclaimed, and I also couldn't hide my admiration.

The beautiful gown was hung in a little shop and a lot of people were eyeing it.

“How much do you think it would cost?” Laxmi asked me.

“Umm..like two gold coins” I replied after a little thought.

“Sriti, we are heading back home. Do you want to return with us?” A woman from our village, who also came to the fair asked.

“I want to return, but the girls still want to stay a little longer” Aunt Sriti replied, and I was so happy she didn't ask us to go back now.

“My daughter and her friends are still here, they can all come back together” the woman suggested and without waiting for our reply, called her daughter and her friends over.

I really don't like her daughter and her friends, but I still try to be polite.

“Hi Laxmi and Siara” the woman's daughter, Rona, waved at us nonchalantly.

I could feel their eyes on me, which I found really rude.

“Don't you know it is rude to stare” Laxmi lashed out at them.

“Why is your hair a silver gray color?”

“And why are your eyes blue?”

“Are you not Simone’s family maid?”

“You are a werewolf. Why are you staying with Nagas?”

They rained questions on me and I didn't know which to answer first. I don't need anyone to tell me that they must have gossiped about me a lot.

“I don't see how any of that is your business”, Laxmi said angrily.

“They are just a little bit curious about your friend, no need to get angry Laxmi” the woman said while giving her daughter and her friends a warning look which shut them up.

“Girls, I will get going to take care of yourselves”, Aunt Sriti said, and left with the other woman.

As soon as her mom left, Laxmi took my hand and pulled me in a different direction, leaving the other girls behind.

“Hey”, Rona and her friends caught up with us.

“Sorry about our behavior”, one of the girls apologized.

“Hi, my name is Bani and this is Disha and Preeta” she introduced, and I nodded at them in acknowledgment.

“Let's just have fun” I said to Laxmi who was still angry about how they had behaved.

“Fine” she finally agreed after I coaxed her a little more.

We all walked to one of the caravans where hair accessories were being sold.

“This red hairband will look great on you, Sia,” she said excitedly, and helped me to wear the band.

“It is really…” I was interrupted by a commotion not far from where we were.

People were running towards us and some seemed to be injured, which alerted us.

“What is happening” Laxmi asked a man who was running past us.

“ Vampires are attacking” he replied, but it was simply unbelievable as the sun was still high up in the sky.

“But vampires can't walk under the sun” Rona said, equally confused.

But our confusion didn't last long, as we really saw lots of vampires running towards us without getting burned in the sun.

“Run!” I yelled, and we all ran together towards an alley behind the caravan.

When we got to the end of the alley, we saw two vampires there, and they started moving towards us ready to attack.

“Ahhhh!!” Rona screamed as she fell down in fright.

“Let's get out of here!” I yelled, because the vampires were already close to us.

Bani runs to Rona and helps her up, but she is suddenly pushed towards the vampires by her.

“Bani!”

We all yelled as one of the vampires ripped off her head. Rona attempts to run towards us as the vampires are distracted but suddenly, a third vampire appears out of nowhere and rips off her head.

We all watched in horror as her head rolled on the ground with her eyes wide open. She probably thought she could get away after sacrificing Bani, but karma is a b***h.

We watched helpless and terrified as there was no escape route. The vampires blocked all our escape routes.

I couldn't help but think, as I had never expected that this was how I would die.
