It was going to be a very long day as I got up from my bed. I had travelled from Texas the day before for a meeting I had to attend as my son couldn't make it. My son Asher is the Alpha of Desert Moon Pack. Its the largest pack in America. I am the former Alpha Bill Paxton of the pack, I live there on the pack lands with my wife Debbie who was the former Luna. Weve been married for 32 years. We had our son Asher 26 years ago and still he hasn't found his mate. I met Debbie when we were both 18 years old. I love her just as much now as I did when I first saw her and knew she was my mate. I handed over the pack to my son when he turned 21 years old. That is the normal age for our heirs to take over.
I had gone to the meeting to sign some contracts with some big shot called Damon Blackwood of Blackwood Industries. We owned a Timber Company Paxtons Timber Ltd. It was one of the incomes that help sustain the pack.
Damon Blackwood was a f*****g asshole. Demanding all sorts of s**t from us and trying to lower our percentage of the profits. We were to supply his company with timber. I told him that we need to stick to the orignal agreement or the deal was off. After getting Asher on the phone and putting him on loud speaker and a few choice words from Asher, Damon agreed with the original terms of the agreement. After the contract was signed, Damon called his secretary into the office and ordered us all coffee. I did notice that is secretary was sashing around us. I noticed her blouse was unbuttoned low so the cleavage and the lace part of her bra was showing. Her skirt if that is what you could it, was barely covering anything up. If she bent over you would see everything, I just turned my head away. "What a w***e". I said to myself.
After a few minutes she arrived with our coffees. I drank mine as quick as I could. I put my cup down and stood up shook Damons hand and left.
I called Asher once I was outside of the building. Told him I would see him the following day. It was my day to drive the bus back tonight. That is another business that we have. Paxton Transports Ltd. The meeting was in Richmond I came up with one of our warriors that was going to visit his mum in Richmond. I came with him and I would drive the bus back to our depot.
I spoke to Asher for a while on the phone then went to the diner to grab some lunch before I headed back to the motel to pack my things. After my lunch I packed up my ruck sack I had a shower then chilled out and tried to get some sleep in my room until I had to leave. I was going to be driving throughout the night so I needed to make sure I had enough sleep. Night time driving can sometimes be real lonely, not many people get the bus late at night, so I can be very tiring.
I set my alarm clock for 10.30pm then got under the covers and fell asleep.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off. I stretched over and turned it off. I got up and sat on the side of the bed for a bit, I stretched and stood up. Before I walked over to the chair and got my clothes on. I made a coffee in the coffee machine that was in my room and sat in the chair while I drank it. After I finished I noticed I had to leave, I got up and put my cup onthe side picked up my ruck sack and walked out the door closing it behind me. I walked to the reception and handed back my key.
I walked to the bus depot and entered my bus. I sorted myself out and started the engine. I checked I had everything that I needed. Dead on 11pm I pulled away and headed to my first stop.
I knew it was going to be a long night. I was looking forward to stopping at Marlenes to grab one of her famous sandwiches. As I approached the first stop I noticed a young Lady she couldn't of been no more that 20 maybe 21 years old. I pulled in and she climbed up and told me a one way to Texas. I gave her a ticket and she paid cash. I noticed she didn't have any luggage with her and she was holding her arm close to her right side. I also noticed that it looked like her cheeks were swollen they were both very red.
She took her ticket and walked to the 4th row back and settled in next to the window.
I pulled out and drove ahead. I glanced at the girl when we got on the open road, I saw in the mirror she was just looking out the window even though she couldn't see anything. I wandered if she was running or if she had been attacked. I mean she had no luggage not even a handbag, only her phone in her hand and when she paid for her ticket she got the cash from her back jeans pocket.
We both sat in silence, I just kept checking her every now and then.
After about 2 hours I pulled into the diner, Marlene's. I looked back in the mirror and notice the young lady was sleeping. I slowly approached her nd shook her shoulder gently.
"Miss, Miss can you hear me".
“Are we there.” She yawned.
"No miss we have stopped for a 15 minute pit stop".
"if you want to get something to eat or a drink or use the bathroom now is the time to do it'. 'It's our only stop".
'yes thank you i will do that'.
I grabbed my ruck sack from the shelf and got off of the bus. I walked towards the diner and walked in and headed to my regular table. Marlene walked over to the table.
"hi Bill what can I do you for"?.
"hi Marlene nice to see you again".
"you to Bill, how have you been"?
"am good Marlene just doing the run" as I laugh.
"not busy tonight then"? she laughs.
"no only 1 passenger tonight, Can I have a sandwich and a mug of tea please",
"sure thing hun".
As Marlene walked away to bring me my order I saw the young lady walk over towards the bathroom. After a few minutes she came out and headed towards the table. Marlene brought over my food and drink thn she headed to get the young lady her order.
After I finished I stood up and headed to the counter.
"lovely as always Marlene thanks so much see you again in a couple of days",
"yeh sure Hun, you are welcome see you again soon", Marlene replied.
I placed my cup on the counter and I smiled at Marlene.
"thank you" I said.
I turned around and headed back out to the bus. A few minutes later the girl followed and boarded. I noticed she seemed very uncomfortable. As I checked everthing and started up the bus I checked on her again then pulled out and started our journey over night.
After a while I decided to try and talk to her.
"Hey! as you know now my name is Bill".
"You don't have to speak to me but it is a very long drive and just thought a bit of light conversation would pass the time".
After a few minutes I spoke to her again.
"look im not going to bite you".
I just kept looking at her in the rear view mirror.
"well if you do want to talk just let me know".
