I’ve slept with Esau in my arms every night for nearly three weeks. If everything goes according to plan—my plan for the day, his plan for the future—I wonder what we’re gonna do. Will they let him bring me to the firehouse? Let me sleep in his cot? ‘Cause I’m sure as hell never sleeping alone again if I can help it. Gunther assures me he’s got it all under control.
