CHAPTER FOUR Luna's days were filled with difficult exercises done to control the wolf within her. Mia, a patient but demanding teacher, guided her through the meditation period, to breathe in and physical challenges that pushed her to her limit. The pack members, initially carefully, welcome Luna with a clear and warm heart that touches her. Noah, including the shifting sessions, his laughter resounding through the space as Luna, with newfound speed, managed to land a playful blow on his arm. Even Henry, despite his busy time and huge responsibilities as Alpha, found a moment to spend time with Luna. They would walk through the moonlight forest, his presence a comforting relief as she crossed the complications of her new reality. He spoke of the pack's history, their traditions and the balance they maintained with the human world. One evening, as the full moon appeared, Mia called to her room, she aired with expectation, the forest holding its breath. “Tonight,” Mia said, her voice low, “you'll shift.” Luna's heart beating in her chest, fear and excitement rising through her veins. This was the moment she was fearing, the test of her control, the final step in accepting her werewolf nature. Mia led her to a space in the forest, a place of ancient power where the synergy of the moon seems to show. She told her to focus on her inner wolf, to welcome the wildness within her and to let go of her human self. Luna breathed in, she felt some energy. A force building within her, threatening to break free. Her bones cracked and her skin reacted to unbearable heat. Then, with a cry that tore from her throat, the transformation began. Pain pierced through her body, an agony that threatened to destroy her. Her bones cracked and reformed, her senses overloaded with smells and sounds. Hair grows, claws extended and fangs lengthened. Luna whipped on the ground, her human mind battling for control as her wolfish sense took over her. She felt a rage, a wildness she never had known, a desire to hunt, to run, to be free. Mia's voice is calm and steady, cutting through the troubles. “Focus, Luna,” she said. “Control the shift. You're not just a wolf, you're Luna. You're both.” Luna holds on to Mia's word, her human awareness fighting for supremacy. She imagined her wolf, a significant creature, with silver hair, blue eyes, a thought of her own spirits and strength. Slowly, awkwardly disturbing, the pain subsided. The renewing completed. Luna opens her eyes, no longer human, but a creature of the wild. A werewolf soaked in the silver light of the full moon. She looked down at her feet, covered in thick hair, her claws glittering in the moonlight. She tested herself, feeling the power and agility moving through her. She lifted her head and roared with laughter, a mournful cry that resounded in the forest, an announcement of her arrival, a celebration of her transformation. Mia smiled, her eyes filled with pride. “Welcome, Luna,” she said, her voice filled with comfort. “You're now one of us.” Luna, her wolfish sense increasing, felt a touch of belonging, a connection to the forest, to the pack, to the ancient magic that ran through her veins. She was no longer a woman who stammered in a hidden world. She was a werewolf, a protector, and Luna. And she stood under the full moon. The world was alive with a scent she had never perceived before. Mia, her eyes sparkling with excitement, observed Luna's wonder. “It is a new world, isn't it child?” she said, her voice softening. Luna, still surprised by the tensity of her senses, could only nod. She took uncertain steps, and another one, she wondered at the effortless movement of hers, the power wind upon her muscles. She felt a connection to the earth beneath her. The wind mumbling her hair. “Come,” Mia said, signaling towards the woods. “Let's run.” And run the did. Luna, with the Elder at her side, marks through the forest. She felt a sense of freedom she never knew, a wild excitement that passed through her veins. They ran for hours, the forest being to unfold before them. Luna's wolfish sense taking over, chased some animal, the joy of the hunt awakening in her. But Mia, with a gentle push, guides her back towards the path. Remaining her that tonight was about research, not attacking. On the return to space, Luna felt a pain of regret as the first clue of the day touched the space. The magic was fading, the world returning to its familiar form. With hiss, she felt the shifting beginning again, the familiar pain of transformation, the combined force of wolf and human. She stood on two legs, naked and in danger before the light, the experience felt both far and settled. It was part of her now, the wildness and the connection to the ancient muse of the forest. Mia, understanding Luna, hands her a beautiful dress. “Rest now,” she said. “You have much to do.” Luna who was tired, returned to her room . She fell into a deep sleep. Her dreams filled with images of her wolf body and the runs she had at the forest. When she woke up, the sun was high. She felt a strange touch of peace, a new role of confirmation of her double nature. The fear that had affected her during her arrival had faded, replaced by a feeling of belonging, a connection to something bigger than herself. She dressed and stepped towards the space. Children playing around the trees and their laughter resounding through the woods. Henry walks towards Luna, his silver eyes holding a friendliness that sent a signal through Luna's heart. “How are feeling?” he asked, his voice softening. “I'm okay, but different,” she replied, smiling with her pretty face. “Stronger.” Henry nodded, his look steady. “You're a Luna, he said, his word filled with belief. “You're always meant to be here."
