“Oh,” I said as an apology and closed the door. I returned to find Anna and tried to forget what I had done. I was thinking of waiting, visiting her later, and also interrupting her again; but those were only thoughts. The gallery wasn't same as before. A couple of paintings were down from the wall. Everything seemed emptier, and it had the spirit that all events had ended. Anna was talking to a man.
