Dominic Crane Maddie is asleep on my chest an hour into the movie. Wrapping the quilt tighter around us, holding her closer. My eyes scanned over to Jane and Xavier sitting dutifully beside us. Jane’s silver and blue form is stark still in the grass. Her artificial eyes take in the movie’s scenes with reverence, as if she is attempting to learn every dance and movement being performed on screen. Xavier’s reaction was also strange, my droid watching Jane with a similar reverence in his eyes. The round of applause signals the end of the movie, pulling me out of my wonderment at the droid’s actions.
