CHAPTER FIVE

1098 Words
Never in her life did she imagine that she would be humiliated to the point where three strangers would have to defend her. She had never imagined being humiliated in her life. Having no friends and a tendency to keep to herself, she never imagined that she might cause humiliation of any kind. Yet here she was. Why were these men helping her? Maybe they don't know about the pictures. "Delete those pictures." They knew. Okay. Demetria could swear she heard bones snap as the man being strangled started to pant for breath. "Drop him, David. Don't kill him." "Here." That last part was whispered. David then dropped the guy before he could pass out and the one with the sternest frown looked at her, his voice very gentle. "Are you okay?" Demetria thought about lying. She considered pushing it down and repressing it, but this was too much for her. Besides, what was the point? Everything was already out there so instead she shook her head as she sobbed, trying to snuffle back tears. "Of Course she's not okay. Now let's get out of here." After giving the trembling woman a grin, the man who had helped her up escorted her out of the building, with the other two following like bodyguards under orders to shoot anyone who approached her too closely. That is if they had guns. They walked her to a bus stop and sat her down. "I'm not a p********e, please leave me alone." She hiccuped, her face swollen from too much crying. "We know baby, we know. We heard everything. Your only mistake was know realizing the guy was a d**k in the first place." The one with the very light brown eyes knelt before her. "Plus..." Naturally, she tightened her legs as David pointed at her soiled jeans. "You should have waited for us," the third one who hadn't spoken finally did. Even though his eyes were still astuered, his voice was quite sweet and silky. "Shut up. You should hear how stupid you sound," David said and got a dirty look in return. "I'm Peter, that's David and that's Gideon. We're triplets and I'm the oldest, David is the middle one and Gideon is the youngest." The one before her introduced. "Reverse that," Gideon and David said simultaneously. "Why? It's true." Peter gave them a look that suggested they were losing their minds. "I sent you two out into the world from the womb to see how things were going for me, and then I followed after realising everything was all right." "It doesn't work like that." David grimaced as Gideon rolled his eyes. Their little interaction made Demetria giggle slowly, letting her forget her troubles momentarily. "Yes, it does. You believe me right?" Peter turned to look at the female. Demetria nodded and Peter's face lit up. "See? She believes me." "Don't patronize him." David half warned, half joked. "You need to quit that private school. You don't need them." Gideon changed the topic. "You can't decide f–" “I'm quitting.” She said before Peter could finish talking. "All right," the man said resignedly in a whisper. “Who are you people?” Demetria asked, looking from one brother to another. “I already told you our names.” Peter scrunched his face. “No, who are you really? Why did you decide to help me?” Demetria probed further. While everybody was bashing her and bent on ruining her life, these brothers were helping her. What made them different from the others? Why did they believe her instead? “Ah. Well, we came to look for a friend then we saw what was happening in the hallway and you know, you kinda ran into Peter then the rest is history.” “And right now, it looks like you need a friend and unlike that dipshit, we won't betray you.” David added. “Seriously, we need to take you home. The smell of your blood is in the air and your pherom–” “Peter shut up.” His two brothers shouted. Disregarding their jokes, Demetria got up and pulled over a bus. Given what had recently occurred to her, was it wise for her to welcome three unfamiliar guys into her home? She was aware that this was a really horrible idea. Think logically, she told herself. These sweet men could be serial killers or even organ harvesters. “If you don't feel comfortable taking us to your house, we can just buy some new clothes then you clean up at a hotel.” Gideon said. “And you don't have to pay back. Take it as our sorry this happened to you gift.” David added. “And if you're still skeptical about us, you can choose any hotel you want.” Now, that was a much better idea. “Any?” She asked. “Any,” the brothers said in unison as they stared at her. The public bus honked to draw their attention and she waved it away with an apology. She then turned to them. "I know a really good shop that sells cheap clothes." "You have some berarian money right?" David asked Gideon who nodded. "Berar? What's that?" She asked as she stopped another bus. "A where baby, not a what." David answered. "Where's that?" She asked the question again after correcting herself. "Here." Gideon pointed at the ground. "What?" She frowned at him and Peter pushed her forward. "Bus is here." Just like that, Demetria spent the rest of her morning with the nice but strange men. In addition to choosing some outfits for her, Peter also chose a perfume for her because he was constantly griping about someone smelling the sour blood in the air. Despite her confusion, Demetria accepted their generosity. However, she was not a fool; she ensured that she could reimburse the money spent on lodging and clothing in the event of an emergency. After all, they could be s*x traffickers. Despite all that had occurred, she felt thankful. The fact that the triplets were there to take her up at the appropriate moment made her very happy. They had been therapy of some kind to her, even if only this one time. She didn't want it to end like this. She wanted it to last a little bit more. As someone who struggles with abandonment, she chose to give another friendship a chance since she had become accustomed to them and did not want to let them go. "I'm Demetria, not baby."
