Present Day... "Sons, meet your mother, Julia." "Excuse me?" "Mom?" Demetria looked at her mother. "Mother?" The triplets looked at their father in astonishment. "Mother?" Julia looked at Jeffery in confusion. "And we're going to be one big family." Jeffery exclaimed excitedly before looking at his sons with narrowed eyes. "With ONLY Julia and I as the couple," he said in a low warning tone. "She's our mate, we saw her first. You can't ask us to give up our mate for your girlfriend." Peter spoke through the mind link. "No, she's not. Arkenese and Berarians don't breed." Their father replied. "Why are you dating her?" Gideon asked calmly. He was pissed , beyond pissed but that discussion was for later, they couldn't be arguing about that in front of the women. "Because I like her and she likes me and we're both single." David c****d his head at his father as if to say are you? Jeffery ignored his sons and walked over to Demetria. "Hi sweetheart, you must be Demetria, so nice to meet you. Your mother has said a lot of things about you, mostly nice." He then turned to a very befuddled Julia. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. I just wanted to enjoy the look on the boys' faces. You know, I didn't expect to meet them here at all." Although still surprised, Julia nodded and he turned back to Demetria. "If I were you, I would charge them everytime I drove. They don't know how to drive, they're only using you as a designated driver." David facepalmed and Peter grunted something inhumane which sounded like a growl to Demetria. "You can't drive?" "Is that why you've been forcing me to go everywhere with you? Oh my God, I thought you made me drive because you bought the car. Pay up." She stretched out her hand and David took it, giving it a kiss. Demetria threw him a disgusted look and snatched her hand away before they all finally settled as Jeffery planned to stay for the night. The light finally came back on but everyone was tired and decided to go to bed instead. Alpha Jeffery walked to his sons makeshift room and found Demetria discussing with them. He informed her that her mother would like to talk to her so she left and the father sat down on an office chair placing his legs on the desk. "Why are you dating Julia? What are you hoping to get Father?" Gideon spoke before the older man could. "There is a reason I sent you here, but you intend to sleep with someone else instead. Your objective was forgotten. Their father said instead, querying them. Four moons have passed since you left. Even though I ordered you to find Athan, you are chasing after a female like she is a siren. "Firstly that girl is our mate. Secondly, the search for Alpha Athan led us to her." Peter said with a point of his finger. "How?" Their father asked. "She has his scent," Gideon said. "Excuse me?" "Demetria has Alpha Athan's scent." Alpha Jeffery sat up and placed a had under his chin. "You believe I am not familiar with my own friend's scent?" "No, it's just tha–" "That girl smells like peppermint, Athan smells like cloves. How is that relatively close?" Their father interrupted "and further more, Demetria is human, Athan is not. Interbreeding is forbidden. "Okay scent aside, you don't think there is a way that Alpha Athan and Julia could hav–" "Enough," Jeffery cautioned, holding a palm up. Interbreeding, as I just stated, is an abomination. It's like a faun breeding with a gorgon. Have you ever witnessed that? The man rubbed his eyes, tired of their stupidity. "Well, in theory, the faun would have turned to stone before anything happened–" Gideon clamped a hand on Peter's mouth. "We understand." "But Thergred and Thergris were half human, half wolf. They couldn't have po–" "I see where you are heading, and it is clear that you did not pay attention in class." Their father started. "Back when Arken was only one with no borders, Thergred and Thergris were wolves, wolves with a conscious mind and a brain that could reason. Thergred killed their father Ther so he could become the next Alpha because he believed his father wasn't doing the right thing. Thergred had instructed their father to mark their boundaries so that they could control a certain area. After their father refused, Thergris assisted Thergred in killing Ther. As retribution for their actions, the moon goddess cursed them and their future descendants. "And the curse was granting them the bodies of the most avaricious beings." "Humans." Gideon completed. "And with that came pain from shifting between both forms. A reminder of what our ancestors had done so no, we're not humans and cannot breed with humans. The blood of Arkenese is also significantly more potent than that of Berarians. No pregnancy would make it through. "Therefore, Demetria and Alpha Athan are not related." They concluded. "They are not," their father agreed. "So she is not your mate." He added. "She is, our wolves know it. "She is our mate," David said, scowling at the unlikely direction of the conversation. "She is not an Arkenese, she can not be yo–" "What makes you so certain?" David snapped and Jeffery raised his eyebrow. "Are you raising your voice at me?" Peter tapped David, silently telling him to back down. "Since we do not know her father, we will presume he is Arkenese." Gideon began. "Yes but still, Julia–" "Julia..." This time, Gideon was the one cutting his father's sentence short. Have you thought about the possibility that Julia is Arkenese? That's why you're with her, isn't it?" Jeffery looked at his oldest son as he continued to speak. "You may have come here to find your friend, us, or both, but something sent you to Julia. There was no need to locate Julia in order to follow us. Actually, you were unaware that Julia knew us." "Your scents were around her," their father quickly answered. "However, you could have found us before you ever discovered Julia. I am correct, and you know it. You sort her for a purpose." "And when Mother finds out about Julia, she will not be very happy." Jeffery rolled his eyes to David's statement. "Your mother has no say in this, she broke our bond. She left me, left you. She left us." "Both of you broke us. You allowed us, your children, to be impacted by your inability to manage your adult problems. We won't allow you do the same thing again. You may be our Alpha but you can not stop us from taking our mate." David spoke in rising anger. "We will take Demetria to Arken so we can verify her identity." Peter added. "You will do no such thing." Jeffery put his legs down and growled at his sons. "We will and you can't stop us. We shall bring her to the Isles of Truth. Jeffery slowly rose to his feet, his eyes gradually changing from brown to a deep scarlet. He radiated authority, his claws clenched on the desk in rage. "As Day Moon pack Alpha, I forbid you from bringing Demetria Johnson into Arken. You are to stay on your course and find Alpha Athan of Red Heights pack." He began to walk away before stopping to give them one last look. "And that is final."
