“Are you really sure about the guy you were with last night?” Isaac asked as he prepared for the long drive ahead. I rolled my eyes. “Do I even have another choice?” “Who knows, maybe he have HIV…” “Are you stupid? You’re so judgmental!” I snapped, sinking back into the car seat. Isaac chuckled lightly. “So… is he handsome?” I shook my head and glared at him. Just a minute ago he was acting like the guy had some deadly disease, and now he wanted to know if he was handsome. “You’re so flirty,” I muttered. “I know that, Nellie girl. So? Is he?” he kept pestering, so I let out a heavy sigh. “Yes,” I admitted, and he squealed like a kettle. “He’s not your type, right? Can I have him?” I crossed my arms. “Isaac, no one can know you’re gay, remember? Are you planning to come out right now?” “That’s why I said it’s not allowed! You’re so possessive, Nellie girl. Why is sharing not allowed?” he huffed. “Why aren’t you driving yet? Don’t you know how?” I asked, already annoyed. “Because why are you sitting in the backseat? Sit beside me! You’re making me look like your driver!” I smirked at him before looking out the window. “You are my driver today,” I said simply. He had no choice but to sigh. Seconds later, the engine finally started. I inspected my fingernails as I puckered my lips. I really hoped the guy would agree to this madness. “We have to pick up Mamang Ichi at the hotel before heading to wherever my future husband is,” I reminded him. Isaac only nodded, laser-focused on the road. I leaned back, shutting my eyes. It was a four-hour drive, and I had absolutely nothing to do for four hours. “Just wake me up when we reach Manila,” I instructed. “Wow, I’m already your driver and now you’re going to sleep on me.” I heard him complain, and I just shook my head. He always had something to say. I yawned as sleep finally pulled me under. “How long has she been asleep?” I woke up at the sound of Mamang Ichi’s voice. Slowly, I opened my eyes. “Oh, you’re here, Mamang Ichi. Are we already in Manila?” I asked, stretching a bit. Both of them looked at me. He was in the front passenger seat, and I had no one beside me in the back. “She really slept on me,” Isaac complained again, but I only ignored him and turned to Mamang Ichi. “So, what’s the update? Where’s Dwayne Fontanilla?” I asked immediately. Mamang Ichi let out a harsh breath. “They said he’s at the Fontanilla mansion.” “He lives there?” He shook his head, making my brows draw together. “Then where?” “He apparently has his own condo unit. Doesn’t want to live with his family,” he explained. I nodded. That actually made things easier… less family drama to deal with. “So what are we waiting for? Let’s go. Chop chop!” I clapped my hands impatiently. Isaac sighed. “Nellie girl… I drove for four hours…” I raised a brow and crossed my arms. “So you don’t want to?” He pouted but started the engine again anyway. He could complain all he wanted—he’d still follow me in the end. “Mamang Ichi, is this Dwayne guy really handsome?” Isaac asked, of course. The gossip queen was activating. “Ay Iska, super!” Mamang Ichi replied. “He’s rich, and looks like a Greek god. I don’t even know what Nellie did to catch a man like that.” I smirked proudly. “Please. With my beauty, how could I not get a man like that?” Isaac scoffed. “I will never get used to Nellie girl being like this.” “Oh, that? She could even be an actress with that confidence,” Mamang Ichi teased. I narrowed my eyes at him before staring out the window. I tapped my heel against the floor impatiently as we headed toward the Fontanilla mansion. Isaac was driving like a turtle. By the time I looked out the window, it was almost dark. “What the hell? What if we don’t catch him, huh?” I complained loudly. Isaac groaned. “Nellie girl, we can’t overspeed. If we get caught, you have pay.” I rolled my eyes and rested my chin on my palm. “You’re so slow…” “Excited much?” Isaac asked mockingly. “You i***t, of course I’m excited! What if we miss him? Then what? What happens to us?” I fired back. “You’re not even nervous that he might refuse your offer?” Mamang Ichi asked, turning to me. I smiled sweetly. “Don’t worry, Mamang Ichi.” She only shook her head. I shrugged and pulled out a lollipop from my bag. “We’re here in their village,” Isaac announced. A grin appeared on my face as I unwrapped the candy. “We’re not getting past the guards, so we’ll wait outside.” “Huh? What if he doesn’t come out? Or maybe he already left?” Isaac asked. “Isaac dear, trust my instincts. He’s still inside. He’ll come out soon,” I said, popping the lollipop into my mouth. “Maybe he’s not here anymore,” Mamang Ichi muttered. “He’ll come out,” I insisted. “What if he’s in a car? Do you know what his car looks like?” Isaac asked. I shook my head. Then my smile widened when I saw a man walking toward the gate. “No car. He’s walking. Because he doesn’t have one anymore.” “What? But isn’t he rich?” Isaac asked, confused. “Not anymore…” I replied, my grin growing as the man stepped out of the village. “What?” Isaac asked, but I just shrugged and pointed at Dwayne. “Start the car and drive towards him,” I ordered, pointing with my lollipop. “That’s him?” he asked. I nodded slowly, smiling as I popped the candy back into my mouth. Isaac drove the car closer and stopped right in front of Dwayne. As soon as the car halted, I lowered the window. “Hey!” I called out. He paused mid-step and looked toward me. I smiled as I pulled the lollipop out of my mouth. His eyes widened. “You’re the girl from last night…” I nodded. “Yup.” “What are you doing here?” he asked, confused. I gave him my sweetest smile. “Why don’t we talk inside the car? Hop in.” His brows knitted. “Are you going to kidnap me?” I laughed softly. “Dear, if I were going to kidnap you, I would’ve done it long ago, back when you still had money.” His mouth fell open. “How did you know?” I smiled slyly. “Secret. Now get in before I change my mind.” I scooted to the other side as he approached. He froze a little when he saw Isaac and Mamang Ichi inside. I raised a brow. “Get in.” He sighed and, eventually, slipped inside the backseat beside me. “Go, Isaac,” I ordered. Isaac glared at me through the rearview mirror, so I rolled my eyes at him. Ugh. Hopefully this i***t won't start flirting. “So… what now?” Dwayne asked. I turned to him, crossing my arms. “I have an offer for you.” “An offer? What kind?” “We’ll talk about everything once we get to my condo. I’ll explain the details there.” “Details? What kind of offer is this exactly?” he pressed. I rolled my eyes. This man really couldn’t wait. “A business,” I answered simply. “Business? What business?” I let out a sharp breath. “Something that can help you financially. Don’t worry, the pay depends on the work.” “Sorry, Miss, but I’m not interested in smuggling drugs.” I shot him a look so sharp it could cut steel. “Excuse me? Do I look like I’m doing drugs?” Isaac and Mamang Ichi tried to stifle their laughter. I ignored them. “So what kind of business are we talking about?” he asked again. “I already told you… we’ll discuss it at my condo. Can you be quiet for now? Later. Okay? Later.” He sighed and leaned back. “Fine,” he surrendered. I shook my head and put my lollipop back in my mouth. Then, I stole a sideways glance at him. He’ll agree to my plan. …Right?
