LOVE, LIES AND LUXURY

1439 Words
I spent the morning cleaning my apartment, trying to pass the time until Luca's arrival. Before I knew it, the hours had flown by, and it was already afternoon. I took a refreshing shower and dressed up in my flowery dress and flat shoes, feeling a sense of excitement mixed with nervousness. As I stood in front of my vanity mirror, brushing my hair and admiring my outfit, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. I had breakfast early in the morning, remembering that Luca was coming to pick me up. But as I looked at my reflection, I couldn't shake off the feeling that this was all just a facade. That nothing real could ever happen between us. I thought about Emily, my best friend, who was super excited when I told her about my "date" with Luca. She was always optimistic, thinking that we would hit it off and become a couple. But I knew better. I knew that this was just a business arrangement, a fake relationship to benefit Luca's image. I couldn't let myself get caught up in the romance of it all, no matter how charming Luca was. Just then, the doorbell rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly grabbed my bag and walked to the front door, my heart racing with anticipation. As I opened the door, my breath hitched in my throat. Luca looked incredible, his eyes sparkling with a warm smile, his suit fitting him perfectly. I felt like I was staring for too long, my eyes fixed on him like a magnet. I didn't even realize he had cleared his throat to get my attention until I felt a blush rise to my cheeks. "Hey," he said, his voice low and smooth, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You look beautiful, Dovey." I felt a flutter in my chest, my heart skipping a beat. "Thanks," I replied, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies in my stomach. "You don't look so bad yourself.” "So you're ready?" He asked, extending his hand out to me, his eyes sparkling with a warm smile. I took his hand, feeling a jolt of electricity as our palms touched. I quickly locked the door, my heart racing with excitement. As I turned, I saw Luca had opened the door for me, his chivalry making me feel like a queen. "Thanks," I whispered, feeling a blush rise to my cheeks. We walked to the parking lot, and I couldn't help but gasp as I saw the sleek, black car waiting for us. Luca opened the door, and I slid into the luxurious leather seat, feeling like I was in a whole different world. As we drove through the city, I couldn't help but stare at the towering skyscrapers, the hustle and bustle of the streets a stark contrast to the peacefulness of my apartment. We eventually arrived at a huge penthouse, an upscale fancy apartment that took my breath away. I was so mesmerized by the view that I forgot to close my mouth. "Close your mouth, Tesoro, a fly might get in," Luca said teasingly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I quickly closed my mouth, my heart skipping a beat at the endearment. Luca led me up to the apartment, his hand on the small of my back, sending shivers down my spine. We got into the elevator, and he pressed the number, the highest floor. I felt my stomach drop as the elevator zoomed up, the doors opening with a soft whoosh. Luca led me out, and I gasped as I saw the stunning view, the city spread out before us like a canvas of twinkling lights. "Wow," I breathed, my eyes wide with wonder. Luca smiled, his eyes sparkling with pride. "Welcome to my humble abode," he said, his voice low and smooth. As we stepped into the penthouse, I couldn't help but gasp in awe at the opulent interior. The black and gold decorations gleamed in the soft light, and the kitchen island was neatly styled with fine china and granite that seemed to shimmer. I felt like I had entered a luxury magazine spread. "Luca, your house is amazing," I exclaimed, my eyes wide with wonder. "I can't believe how beautiful it is. The design, the furniture, everything is just so... elegant." Luca chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I had a great team of designers who helped me bring my vision to life." I wandered around the room, taking in the stunning views of the city skyline. The floor-to-ceiling windows made the space feel airy and light, and the dark hardwood floors added a touch of sophistication. "Do you want anything to drink?" Luca asked, his voice interrupting my reverie. "Water, juice, wine? I have a great Cabernet Sauvignon if you're interested." I hesitated for a moment before responding. "Water, please," I said, my throat feeling parched from the excitement. Luca nodded and headed to the kitchen, returning with a glass of chilled water that I downed quickly. "Thank you," I said, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. As I settled into the plush couch, I placed my bag on the coffee table nearby, taking a moment to appreciate the sleek design of the furniture. Luca sat down beside me, his proximity making my heart race. "So, let's get started," Luca said, his voice low and smooth. "My lawyer should be here anytime from now. We'll go over the contract, and I'll answer any questions you may have." I nodded, my mind racing with anticipation. What would the contract entail? What were the expectations of our fake relationship? I felt a flutter in my chest as I waited for the lawyer to arrive, my fate hanging in the balance. As we waited, Luca chatted with me about everything from our shared love of Italian food to our favorite books and movies. I was surprised by how easy it was to talk to him, and how natural it felt to be in his presence. Finally, the doorbell rang, and Luca stood up to answer it. He returned with a middle-aged man carrying a briefcase, who introduced himself as Luca's lawyer, Mr. Johnson. "Ah, great, you're here," Luca said, gesturing to me. "This is Dovey, my... partner." He smiled at me, and I felt a flutter in my chest. Mr. Johnson nodded, his expression serious. "Nice to meet you, Dovey. Let's get down to business, shall we?" And with that, the meeting began, the fate of our fake relationship hanging in the balance. "...So Miss Dovey, do you mind signing here?" The lawyer, Gio asked me, his pen poised over the contract. We had just finished discussing the terms of the agreement, and I felt a sense of trepidation wash over me. I took a deep breath and reviewed the contract in my mind. I would have to live with Luca for the duration of our "relationship", which could be up to a year or more, depending on how long it took for his business to stabilize. I would have to accompany him to his business meetings and social events, pretending to be his doting girlfriend. We would have to hold hands, exchange sweet glances, and even kiss on the lips when necessary. But, as we had discussed, we would limit our physical affection to only what was necessary to maintain the charade. I thought about the implications of signing this contract. I would have to put my own life on hold, and my relationships and friendships would suffer. But, I would be gaining a luxurious lifestyle, and a chance to experience the world in a way I never had before. I looked up at Luca, who was watching me with an intense gaze. I could see the expectation in his eyes, the hope that I would agree to this arrangement. I took a deep breath and reached out to sign the contract. "I'll do it," I said, my voice firm. "I'll sign." Gio smiled and handed me the pen. I signed my name with a flourish, feeling a sense of resignation wash over me. I had just committed to a year of living a lie, but I was determined to make the most of it. "Excellent," Gio said, taking the contract from me. "Welcome to the team, Miss Dovey. You'll be a valuable asset to our company." Luca smiled and reached out to take my hand. "Thank you, Dovey," he said, his eyes sparkling with gratitude.
