Elowen's POV Corinna's face went white. She stared at the gun without moving, her eyes going from the muzzle to my face and back again. "Elowen." Her voice came out careful. "Put that down. This isn't worth it." I c****d the gun. The sound cut through the café and the room came apart, chairs scraping back, people scrambling for the door, someone screaming from somewhere near the counter. She didn't move but the confidence in her gaze faltered. "Take it back," I said. My voice was steady, which surprised me. "What you said about my mother." "Elowen—" I fired at the couch beside her. "Now." Her hands were flat on the table and she clenched her jaw and looked at me, and I looked back and let her see that I meant every word of it. "I'm sorry." The composure was gone from her voice.
