Dante stopped. Turned to face her, his expression pure stone. “Start talking.” Lia blinked. “About what?” His eyes went flat. “Jordan. Where he is. What he told you. What you’re hiding.” “I’m not hiding anything—” “Bullshit.” The word cracked the silence like a whip. Lia’s chin jerked up. “You don’t even know me.” He stepped closer, so close she had to tilt her head back to meet his gaze. “No, but I know lies. I know how your pulse jumps when I say his name. I know how your eyes flick away when you’re deciding what you're gonna leave out.” She swallowed. Her mouth felt dry as dust. “You’re terrifying, you know that?” she whispered. “Good. I’m supposed to be.” He stared down at her, eyes glinting in the shadows. “You want to know who I am? Fine. I’m the guy Jordan worked for.
