EPISODE 14.
Diana's POV
The beautiful sun rose, and the sounds of birds chirping woke me up. I stretched lazily in bed. A knock on the door made me get up and open it.
My mom was standing there, already fully dressed and ready to go to work. She looked at me. My hair was a mess, my face was puffy, and my eyes looked heavy. I definitely needed more sleep. Mom placed a kiss on my forehead.
"I'm off to work. Your breakfast is in the freezer," she mumbled.
I let out a slow nod without saying anything.
As she started to leave, I quickly grabbed her arm, stopping her. I suddenly remembered my plans with Sia. If Mom left without giving me permission, I would miss the party.
She frowned, noticing I was struggling to speak. "Anything the matter?" she asked.
"Huh? Oh, it's just... ahhh." I bit my lower lip, finding it hard to get the words out, but I forced myself to continue. "Mom, will you permit me to go to a night party with my friends?"
Mom noticed my hesitation and struggle. "I prefer day parties, not nights. You aren't allowed to go," she stated firmly.
"But my friend already made plans! She promised to pick me up if I convinced you. Mom, please, just let me have this fun once."
Mom sighed and thought about it. Just once."On my condition," she said.
"What is it?" I asked quickly.
"I don't care who this friend is, girl or boy, I don't care to know, as long as you take someone I trust with you," Mom replied.
"Who?" I asked.
"I'm talking about Bryan. Since he's in town, why not take him with you?" Mom replied.
"But..." I winced, knowing that if I didn't agree to her suggestion, I wouldn't be going anywhere tonight. "Okay, I will take Bryan with me."
"Good. And when is your friend picking you up?" Mom asked.
"Around seven p.m.," I replied. Mom nodded.
"I will be home by then, and if I'm not home early, make sure not to spend more than six hours there."
"Sure, Mom." She placed a kiss on my forehead before leaving for the office. I sighed in relief and went back to my room, heading straight to the bathroom to get myself ready.
That was easy.
---
I was lying carelessly on my bed with one leg swinging in the air, my phone placed on the pillow. I was on a FaceTime call with Sia.
"So she agreed?" Sia asked, sounding incredibly excited.
"Yeah, it took some time, but she did," I giggled.
"Aww, can't wait to pick you up! Remember to put on something sexy, you know... all eyes on me..."
I burst out laughing. This was my first time going to a night party, and I was excited to meet different people and have fun without worrying about anything else.
"I wish I could, but I don't have any sexy dresses," I explained. "I don't go out for parties or any special occasions, so how am I supposed to have any?" Sia was speechless. Was I really serious about not having fashionable party clothes?
"So what are we going to do now? Nothing to wear is... not fashionable," Sia whined.
"I have my church wear. It's good for it," I replied. Sia laughed.
"No way. You know what? I am bringing some of my new clothes for you to pick some of the pretty ones you like," Sia suggested.
"Okay then," I slowly agreed. I had something else to tell her. I needed to let her know about Bryan tagging along.
"A friend of mine is tagging along. Do you mind if he joins? Mom said that if I don't take him with me, I shouldn't go to the party, so...."
"So you can bring him! I hope he is handsome, cute, cold, darling..." Sia's description was funny, making me laugh again. Sia pouted. "Don't make fun of me, Diana! I just want to know if it's a creep that is tagging with us," she whispered the last part.
"Since he's coming, why not find out for yourself? Maybe then you can decide what he looks like," I said teasingly. Sia sighed, giving a nod.
"Okay then, okay..." She sighed again. "I will be coming to do your makeup too, so be ready."
"What time?" I asked, sitting up comfortably on the bed.
"Any time, babe." Sia seemed satisfied with the call after that. I ended the call and stood up, leaving the room to call Bryan.
---
A loud knock sounded, and I went to open the door.
There stood Sia, dressed in all-out fancy wear: a very short, dark black dress. She was wearing red heels, her hair was perfectly styled, and she had heavy makeup on.
"Don't you think this is too much for a night party?" I asked.
Sia scoffed, shifting past me and walking inside. Her heels clicked loudly on the floor. I immediately noticed the bunch of shopping bags with her. *Did she go shopping before coming here?*
"What are the bags for?" I asked, closing the door.
"Oh, it's for the party. This one is full of makeup," she said, holding up a blue bag. "This one is full of dresses, the other one is heels, and this one, well, let's just say it is for you personally," she replied, sitting on the sofa.
I looked at the five bags on the table, giving an unsure nod. All this stuff for a night party that I wouldn't even be spending many hours at.
"Have you freshened up?" Sia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked up at her and nodded gently.
"Yes, I have," I replied.
Sia clapped her hands and quickly jumped up from the sofa. "Good, let's get this started!" She said, handing me some bags as she headed upstairs.
"How do you know that's where my room is?" I asked, trailing behind her. Sia was already inside my room.
"Well, where else could your room be if not here?" Sia replied. "Come on, sit on the stool." She continued.
