They stood in front of the large wooden entrance, gaping at the sign. The doors and the sandstone façade were carved with fantastical depictions of the four elements. Storm was represented in the archway that framed the doors, with abstract electrical bolds highlighted with gold gilt. The door burst open as Kane reached for it, and a dozen children tumbled out followed by two harried adults. The children streamed past them. Each of them wore a bright green sticker noting that they were Tour Group 2, and the babble of conversation included such gems as “I bet I would be a fire mage!” and more disturbing, “Don’t be a dummy, Gerard, the elf lady said mages don’t exist anymore!” Kane caught the door before it could close, holding it open for the group’s final adult chaperone who smiled in th
